My problem is that even with 22 years of seniority, I'm still #33 on the list. I get six weeks a year. My calendar year for vacation picks starts July 23rd, so I have to pick between July 23rd and November 15th, anything after that I have to hold until the next calendar year.

So I always take a week in October for my birthday leaving me with 4 regular weeks and one option week.

I always take two weeks in February for the Daytona 500 and one week in May for Cruise In. That leaves me with one option and one regular. Well lately, my regular week has always been in June right after the Dover race leaving just the option. Last year I used the option in August for Carlisle. Option weeks have to be used between May 1st and September 15th.

This year, I couldn't get the Bowling Green week I needed for Cruise In, so I used the option for that which is why I had an extra week to use up before July, that was the week I took off last week.

So next weeks vacation is my 2007 option week and the one in June is my last 2006 week.

October will be my first 2007 week and I'm holding 4 2007 weeks for 2008.

Couple reasons, first I'll get too lazy. Second the events I go to are set. Third, the guy who fills in for me might get too comfortable and start changing my route to suit him.

Not too bad since I have to keep in the loop with my job. New laws and rules being made or changed every day.

Kind of, the four weeks from this year have to be used before July of 2008, but come July of 2008, I get 5 more weeks plus the option to use. SO I could take ten weeks off, but then the following year would only be six and I need the February and May weeks.
