Manhattan run

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Last week I drove my car from ECS and drove thru the center of Manhattan, right thru Times Square. What a cool experience. Im trying to set up a Manhattan Run. Start up on 60th street and drive down to 31st, then hang out at hard rock.
September 25th at 2pm, anybody game?

The 22nd is a much better date than the 25th.

I would suggest that maybe you also change the time of the run as well to either the early morning or later on at night. We've done tons of runs in the city both early morning or midnight runs and traffic is alot better at that time than it is in the afternoon.

In any event, I'd be interested in joining you.

Walking thourgh Times Square at 2 pm would be faster ....

Also - parking is a major issue to be considered

Damn, you're right. If it was a midnight run, it would be doable.

Sorry the Hard Rock is for tourist, on our NYC runs we usually eat outside Manhattan in Jersey or some other borough due to parking issues

Manhattan is a TOUGH thing ...............

We go into the city alot on Saturdays, but we always take our Mini Cooper because we can't park anything bigger than that

So, as of this point, we've suggested:

- A date change
- A time change
- A change of final destination
- A change of parking stops

Way to hijack this guy's thread everyone.

Sorry about that, we've all been on a number of NYC runs together, we're just trying to help out.

I'm in for a saturday NIGHT run - as said above , I'd rather hang myself than cruise in the city during the mid day - Did it for years for work , not so much fun

9:30 PM

start point at central park south, 59th Street between 6th and 7th Avenue

stop point to be determined at the start point with everyone involved, looks like turn around at 34st back up on 6th avenue. Plenty of stop points on the way, lets meet and see whats best..

I took the shortcut across 34th Street on the way to Carlisle, and again on the way back. It saved a lot of time, but the terrain could be fatal if you don't proceed with caution.

It was kind of cool driving through the apple with the top down though. It had been many years since I did that.

34th Street isn't too bad, that's my favorite shortcut. It's the midnight runs down 5th Avenue and sidestreets that I'm not familiar with that kill me!! Every intersection has a dip deep enough to swallow up a Volkswagon

34 st is touristier but when I cut across I usually take 36 st when going west to east and make good time in the off hours, 34 has some big craters on the west side.

Lets wait and get some input from Shermon, he coordinates a lot of the NYC runs and may have some good suggestions as well.
