Now I know that the town did not use much vettemelt last year and has tons of extra, but this is getting out of hand. Every night the roads pick up moisture because of the salt on them, so what does the town do, put a fresh coat of salt every morning . The roads up here never looked as bad. We need some rain, thanks for listening.

UM dear.. thats why Vettes should be in the garage at this time of year But I hear what you are saying, I work here in Croton Falls and the amount of salt on the roads is 10x what we have down in Briarcliff
Speaking of all the salt, has anyone ever thought of what effect all that sodium chloride has on the environment? When it washes down the storm drains and into the tributaries? Can't be good. Especially here next to the Chesapeake Bay.
I feel your pain. MD slathers the salt on at the slighest chance of snow. That's why the Corvettes are in hybernation at our house. salt + metal =
I was thinking the same thing. Why don't the environmentalists go after the city for all the salt spreading? They seem to go after every other little issue. This year has been horrible. We've yet to get any significant snowfall in NYC and the suburbs, yet every time there's been a rain/snow mix, the city has dumped tons of salt on the ground. If you are out in the middle of a storm and you are speeding, don't complain that the roads didn't have 3 inches of layered salt on them when you plow into a tree.
I guess that PennDot here in northcentral Pennsylvania are looking out for the environment. They wait forever to put anything down on the roads, making getting to work an adventure. Worst county (Tioga) in Pa for clearing the highways.

Personally... I'd rather have Too much salt/sand than not enough. Ice is unforgiving. Doesn't matter What you are driving. Even with studs on, it's too easy to become part of the scenery on Ice at 50 mph. Or However fast.

Where do you think they get the salt from?
It comes from the ocean, and eventually, it gets back there.
There's also more metal on most other cars than the vette.
