I live in Shewsbury, Pa south of York along RT. 83 4 miles north of the Md.line. I am game for all the events (get togethers) mentioned before. I like to drag race and I'am trying HPDE road racing this year. There's a Vettes vs. Gto drag race March 9th at Atco Raceway in NJ about 2.5 hrs away from here. Maybe some of us could meet there also.

like I said, we can have something at my house, theres lots of room to park, I have a fair supply of canopys for shade as well as a stocked garage and a manfridge of beer. we can also have something out somewhere like damons on a friday evening after watching/racing at capitol which is always a winner.

As far as meeting up, I nominate the 2nd half of March, but stay alert for any impromptu cruises when the nice weather hits.

Also 4DRush, I live just south of Cockeysville where 83 hits 695 so I can meet up and cruise with you when you head south. It's about another 25 mins to Evil's place

Morning MD crew

I understand your frustration here, but you have to understand that your event thread must stay on the topic of the event. If you want to BS and get to know each other and your cars....take it to the bar thread here in the NE. The bar thread is not here just for NY/NJ.....it's for the entire NE, which includes all of you. Come on over, BS and get to know each other there........those are the forum rules and you're not going to get them changed by PMing an admin. All you're going to accomplish by doing that is getting THIS thread locked down as well.

Sorry if my posting this has annoyed anyone and I mean no disrespect - just telling you how it is. That being said......have a great time at your get together

Thats the point, where is the rule. I have not been given an answer. Thanks for your understanding though

I personally dont want to weed thru pages of the "bar" thread to get an answer to an event we are trying to set up.

but whatever, so the plan is mid march, damons/my house/track or something.

You're missing the point........you can have an EVENT thread so long as it stays on the topic of the event. You CAN NOT "BS & get to know each other" in an event thread. You don't have to weed through any pages of bar thread. The bar is to BS and get to know each other.

If there is a rule that would call for the locking of this thread, than I think the rule needs to be changed to accomodate multiple "bar" threads from distinct geographic areas. Just my $.02....
Not gonna happen......tons of others have tried. If you push the issue then we will ALL be thrown into the bar threads in off topic and we'll ALL get lost in the entire USA bar threads. You can post all the event threads you want here in the NE, but they must stay on the topic of the event only. Chit chat = bar thread.......event planning = event thread.

And I really do understand all of your frustrations......I'm just trying to save you a lot of time and aggravation.......

Anyway......enjoy your upcoming events......since I've already pulled you off topic in an attempt to explain and/or help, I'm going to stay out of your thread. Have a great day MD!!!

I now have to go back and delete a number of threads as it's way off topic.

No there won't be another bar here in the NE as others have tried but admin. said no.

This isn't even a real event thread. It'll remain up as Jay sent me a PM asking to do such.

Here are some of the rules:

No hijacking
________________________________________
Hijacking a thread is coming into an existing thread and posting messages which are irrelevant to the original thrust of the thread. It is inappropriate in most instances, so please don’t do it.

The exception is as follows:

On a non-serious thread in the Off Topic section, it is okay to “hijack” a thread if it is done in fun and the originator of the thread has specifically stated in the initial thread or in his signature affixed to the first post that hijacking is welcome.

Some report they cannot see the thread in the above-referenced link.

It was a thread created Oct. 10, 2002 by Troy Roberts:

Quote:
THREAD HIJACKING - I SUGGEST YOU READ THIS ONE.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is simple. Don't do it. If you do it you will be banned. It's impossible to have a decent thread with hijacking going on. It's out of hand. It can bring down the entire section and make it impossible to have a decent OT conversation.

Go ahead - make my day - hijack this thread. You will lose posting rights to the entire forum in a split second.

This is no longer a lose a few points offense. This is a bye-bye offense

Free Speech/censorship
________________________________________
God bless America, where we enjoy constitutionally protected rights. Free speech, although not absolute, is one of those rights.

Being a member at Corvetteforum.com is not, however, a constitutionally protected right. The Forum is a private enterprise and its owner has the right to establish rules of behavior for participants.

Participants who agree to follow Forum rules and then don’t will sometimes find that their inappropriate posts have been deleted. They should not reopen a topic after a moderator has closed a thread on the topic. A pattern of such defiance of the Forum’s rules/guidelines will jeopardize a member’s posting privileges.

Instead of using the NE forum to plan our event guys I will just call people and do it that way since we can't do it here.

How is this different the weekly Ridgely Park posts? The OP offers up choices and times and then discussion follows to determine what works best for everyone and they go with the majority.

That's what we were trying to do. It's better than posting an event, not getting a response and starting a new thread with a different event, and keep doing this untill something is agreed on. I always thought one of the benefits of a forum was open discussions on a specific topic, like a March event for MD area enthusiasts. We never strayed off topic, everyone was chiming in with suggestions

Everyone should remain calm on this issue.

Things are being looked into.

For now lets keep our emotions out of this.

I'll be this to admit I my emotion can out of hand, and that wont do any of us any good.

I dont want anyone including myself getting banned over this.

So hopefully something good can come out of all this for all of us to benefit.

Thanks to all of the Maryland crew for sticking together on this

Guys like I said start an events thread. What we can't have is another bar here in the NE.

In other words you can't start an events thread and turn it into a bar thread. I've gotten a number of PM's from you saying you don't want to post in the NE bar, your call on that one.

The admin will not allow another bar type thread in this region.

If I can help you with an event just drop me a PM even if it's only to bounce something off me.

I think the key word "EVENT" is the problem in this thread. We here in MD/PA/VIR don't know who is around us and never met. We would like to post a thread that others in this area can read and help arrange small get togethers (not events yet!) This thread would help us become a group, like the great group you have in NJ.(3 hrs. from us) It would be great if the thread stayed alive so we could pop in, now and then and check/plan small get togethers.
So the Question is - Can we start a MD. Meetings thread to discuss and plan get togethers?
If not - How would someone from MD. surfing the N.E. section find others in this area to join a group we don't have?

This is as much your section as it is ours and would love to see any event you guys organize grow into something good.
What Jersey Jay is saying seems pretty simple. Start your event thread with date,, time, location etc etc. Get head counts and plan your day. I have tried to read certain event threads that were impossible to follow as they got way off topic and thats why its important to stay on track.
Honestly Jays job on here is so much harder then some of us know and the last thing he wants to do is edit,, delete or lock threads down IMHO.
Good luck with your event guys and where is my damn invite

Best Regards
John

You'll definetly get the invite

Not a problem with the thread. As you guys know the Maryland guys have never really planned a lot of get togethers like the Wolfpack, or some of the Jersey groups. I think that was why folks got so ruffled up was because we were trying to do something like what you guys have done for the first time.

In hindsight Jay a simple warning in the thread would have immediatly gotten the thread back on track and moving in the direction we all wanted it to go. Instead of the lock giving us a chance to do the right thing would have made the difference here.

Anyways everything's fine and we now have a Maryland mass email list that we will use for future discusions.

Thanks,

Andy Wheeler
