Nyack is a lttle pricey but a great town if you work on that side of the river.
EZ Pass is a must around here. You could die waiting in a cash lane at a toll plaza. Just google EZ Pass and look for the "Sign Up Now" button.
Going to Brooklyn, through Brooklyn, or through any part of NYC can be murder if you don't time it right. Weekday rush hours can be murder, holiday weekends are worse, and weekends in the nice weather can drive you mad. Mass transit is the way to go until you figure out the best times to travel by car in and around the Apple.

Default Lodi

I was born and raised in Montvale, NJ just North East of you about 14 miles or so. Nyack would be my choice for many reasons if I were you. Although Lodi has some great deli's, diner's and bagel places, it is more known for a place to pass as you are going else where. Nyack is another world in comparison. Still has some good food joints and travelling in all directions is basically easy once you learn your way. The bottom line, if Nyack is closer to work you will enjoy the less travel time...and still be able to find a coffee shop that has internet access. I would spend a saturday or sunday walking the village of Nyack...your decision will be made in one afternoon.

thanks folks... i'm going to check out nyack this weekend and possibly get out of lodi by the new year.

in regards to getting gas in nj.... do i tip the gas boy..... i filled up today and gave the guy 2 bucks for a tip...not sure if i had to but i dont mind tipping for service.....(thats what she said...j.k.)

if i can find a little apartment in nyack that would be good....tired of living in peoples houses and all..... hmmmm..... unless it's a basement apartment that has all the goodies.

i'm not really a commuter either...i hate traffic especially in my 4banger sonoma with 200,000 miles on it.....

Some people may tip the gas boy if he checks the oil etc, but not usually for just pumping the gas.

Default Nj

It's mandatory that the gas station attendant has to pump your gas in NJ so unless he goes way out of his way in helping you then no tip is necessary.
Good Luck in your search, should be many apartments to choose from.
