Eric, If it wasn't so crappy outside I'd help you out. I know you just put fronts on in the fall, but I've yet to see the car that really needs rears. How many miles do you have on the coupe? Oh, And do you know where my toetap has gone?

I have 59,000 on the car Ed. I was told by a mech at Classic chevy on saturday that i had 2% on my rear pads. I'm thinking that Classic just wants to make a fast buck. I'm going to check them out on friday just to make sure this guys is not lying

I would think you could be on your 2nd (or even a third) set of fronts, but I doubt if the rears are 98% gone @ 60K miles. Let's pull a wheel/caliper and have a look before committing.
You can almost see the pad with the wheel on. But if you can take the wheel off easily (inside a nice heated garage) you can see the pad while its still on the caliper/rotor.
Rear pads last several times longer than fronts. even with that amount of miles it is possible that they are still fine. If they do need to be changed it is really no big deal to do.
If you can't find anyone on here close to you. or don't want to be bothered doing it yourself; You can always get the pads and bring it to any reputable local shop and have them swap them for you. Changing brake pads is a very simple routine job. Just make sure they know how to lift the car and you should be fine.
Eric,
If you want to stop by I'll take a look at the rears.
Thanks Ryan, I know your busy with the new baby...I'm working until 10:45 am tomorrow. I have a local mech here in the area that's going to check the pads out. I'm sure that Classic is lying!

If you cant get someone to check them out, Shoot me a PM... we can yank a wheel in my driveway... I'm still gonna bust your chops about the boys tho.
Actually.... I was just thinking.... Jack up the car, take off a rear wheel and take a few pics of the rear caliper..... From the top & bottom... I bet we could solve this in about 20 minutes. But your still welcome to come by if you want me to do it!
