Went to Atco tonight with Pete... made one pass at 13.20@111 spinning real bad which is better than my normal first run of the night. I was excited about the mph for my first run so I was looking forward to the next few runs. I had trouble with my burnout on the first run which was odd. Next pass I brought up the rpms to do my burnout, let out the clutch and BANG. Car didn't move... workers were like pull up and I just kinda threw my hands up as I was cursing up a storm. Looked under the car and it looks like I grenaded the real end. I am guessing I broke an output shaft which completely destroyed the case. The stupid thing was we were just talking about them before that run and I said I should put one in my car. So as it sits now my car is at Atco, and I am hoping Fran can come to the rescue and towe it to RPM. Congrats to Pete for going 12.46@113 with his catback/intake/drag radial 6 speed vert. Car was moving out pretty fierce.
Thanks Marc. I replied in that thread, maybe something will come of it. Also a BIG BIG thanks to Pete for driving me home!! Its nice having met a great friend on the forum.
Well, at least you have an excuse to do a rear end. May not make you feel better about the cost, but it could be the "silver lining" for you..........................
Thanks Fran for coming through for almost half the price of what it was gonna cost to get towed last night. Now I need to figure out if I wanna go with stock gears, 3.73's, or 3.90's.
Yeah my 96 LT1 camaro took an *** beating, but it was an automatic. Charlie, you are right. Things could have been much worse. It looks like I am going to be doing an RPM Stage 1 diff along with an RPM stage 4 trans. Picking a gear ratio is going to kill me though.
And yes, the RPM that will be doing the removal/inspection/assembly is the RPM in Claymont, DE. They run a good show down there and are very reasonable.
