Default CAD Users step in.

I've seen you post here before, help another brotha out.

Anyway...I need to render a basic part and export it to Flash. Are there any free, basic CAD programs that you would recommend I download? I had a half-dozen CAD courses in high school so I'm vaguely familiar with how the stuff works, but I've been out of it for a few years and don't know where to look.

Thanks!

Free and Cad aren't usually two words that go together.

If you give me more detail what you want to do, that may help point you in the right direction. For example, there are many free programs that convert image files into .swf format. However, if you want to do 3D models, that may be a little more difficult unless a program has native support.

I have access to pretty much any Cad program. I'll help you out as much as I can.

That would be incorrect my friend.
There are tons on Free Cad viewers and converters right now.

Heres one that will convert .dwg's and .dxf's

http://www.autodwg.com/dwg-to-flash/
FlashDWG -- DWG to Flash Converter

Im not sure what file type your drawing is right now but you can convert any standard Cad/mechanical Desktop drawing into any format you like with yet another "FREE" converter program. If its something like an .iges or Inventor file ..send it to me and I will do it for you and send the flash file back to you via email.

Cool thanks for your help. The file should be coming either today or tomorrow...then I can see what exactly it is. I have a hunch that it will be an .ipn...in which case, I will need your help.

Thanks again.

Eh?
He asked for a free Cad program, not a converter. That's why I asked for clarification as to what files he was actually getting, or if he needed to create his own. In fact, I specifically stated that there are many free converters available, but it would depend on exactly what he needed, so I really didn't see the need for you to come in and "correct" me that free converters are available.

Plus he asked for a program to render. Many files are in a format unsuitable for engineering cad tools and instead are animation rendering models. I asked for clarification so I could help better, that's all. For example, what would you do if it was in a Lightwave format?

And I take offense to you stating that I was intending to "scare" anyone. I don't find anything in my post that suggests that. And I haven't a clue what you're talking about in the previous thread (unless of course the good natured ribbing of Acad). Sometimes I think you have a good sense of humor except when it comes to you.

Overall, I'm just really perplexed why you chose to call me out.

To the OP,
Just let us know when you get the files and I'm sure someone here will have what you're looking for.

Good deal my friend.
Let me know when you receive it. Its really very simple to do.

Ryan,
Dont get so bent.
Look at the Smile after my comment. FYI it shows that im joking with you. It seems you can poke fun at me all the time without so much as a response from myself but as soon as I poke fun at you I get a gaggle of ridicule from you. Take it easy man

As for your question about lightwave...
There is the modeler plugin for converting polygon data from the modeler of LightWave 3D to DXF files of AutoCADTM.The surface name where polygons belong is converted to the layer name of DXF, and the polygon information is saved to entity section. The format of DXF is based on Release 12. Its all good man

It's all good John. Belive me, I can take a joke. But if you step back and look at what you typed from a 3rd person perspective, it seemed to imply that I was trying to spread false information, both here and a previous thread. And while it may not be rocket science to us, it can certainly be intimidating to some.

I have Lightwave so this isn't an issue, but was just trying to list an example that would throw some for a loop.

Does anyone have a library of cad files relating to corvettes?
