No work until maybe next month with my company. My local in Madison,NJ has hundreds of guys on the list. They even shut down the Xanadu project at the Meadowlands from what I understand.
There's just not much construction going on, and the jobs that are progressing already have the crew they need.
I have worked on bridges before ( route 80, and route 24 near the Morristown Airport), even though I'm kind of old for that grunt work, but maybe some of that will come up for renovations. The Obama budget may help to, so that alot of schools, hospitals, and public buildings can be modernized . It takes time to get drawings approved, contracts signed, and permits granted to start all of this.

There is still some construction going on but like you said a lot of it stoped.

TARRYTOWN - A 28-year-old man was pulled out of the Hudson River alive last night after jumping off the Tappan Zee Bridge, officials said.
The man, who was not identified, was rescued by the Tarrytown Fire Department's Marine Unit after he jumped off the center of the span about 8:40 p.m., authorities said.
Tarrytown Fire Department 2nd Lt. Kevin Grubbs, the officer in charge of Marine 5, jumped into the frigid water to rescue the man, who was later taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.
The man's condition was unavailable last night, but he was described as alert and cooperative when pulled out of the water, Fire Chief Mike Coffey said.
The crew of Marine 5, including Patrick Derivan, Tommy Keane, Frank Morabito and Bill Logan Jr.. used a thermal imaging device to locate the jumper.
The man was pulled from the water just south of the bridge, Central Nyack Fire Chief Thomas DiBenedetto said. The outgoing tide had moved him a bit from where he initially went in, he said.
Authorities first responded to the bridge on reports of a small disabled sedan on the Westchester-bound side, DiBenedetto said. When they arrived, the man jumped off the bridge, authorities said. The sedan was later towed from the bridge.
A New York State Thruway Authority worker on the bridge saw him jump, said Ray Florida, executive director of Rockland Paramedic Services. The man jumped near mile post 14.0 on the northbound side, authorities said.
Along with the Tarrytown Fire Department, Irvington, Sleepy Hollow, Nyack Community Ambulance Corps, Piermont Marine Unit, Rockland Paramedic Services, Central Nyack and Nyack fire departments and Greenburgh personnel went to the scene. Divers from the Piermont Marine Unit were preparing to enter the water when the man was rescued. The Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported the man with the aid of the Greenburgh Police Paramedic.
Traffic was flowing smoothly on the Tappan Zee Bridge not even a half-hour after crews pulled the man from the water. Police cruisers with their lights flashing could be seen leaving the bridge around 9 p.m.
Several people jumped to their deaths from the span last year:
- March 22: Jonathan Draughn, 23, of Newburgh jumps from the Rockland-bound side early in the morning. His body is found in late May.
- April 3: Alan Mergel, 55, of Montvale, N.J., jumps from the bridge's causeway in Rockland just before 1:30 p.m. Minutes before he jumps, two Thruway Authority workers approach him in his stopped car and ask if he needs help. Mergel drives off and passes through the tollbooth, only to return later to the Westchester-bound lanes and jump.
- April 3: Ganesh Santhanakrishnan, 27, of Ossining leaps from the main span on the Rockland-bound side about 2:30 p.m., about 10 minutes after Mergel's body is recovered.
- April 18: Elayne Camhe, 49, of Yonkers plunges from the Rockland-bound side of the span, just south of the superstructure, about 9:30 p.m.
- June 17: James Foster, 39, of Pearl River jumps off the main span of the bridge at 10:20 p.m.
Suicide hotlines were activated on both ends of the bridge in August. The signs above the four suicide hotlines were increased in size to 2-by-3-feet. They had been 1-by-1 1/2 -foot.

I DO NOT get paid like the UAW workers who get their full salary when laid off. That is my understanding of their contract. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Fortunately, I refinanced in January, and my unemployment plus the extra $50 every two weeks actually covers my mortgage, PSE&G, bill, and my phone, internet ,TV, and my wireless phone bill. The Vette is paid for, so I'm OK, but the money I take home when I work is double what I'm getting now. That is a big difference.

What is going to suck, is when I have to come up with the payments for my son's last year of college, which will start again in June.

Now go and have yourself a nice Irish 7 course dinner, just don't break you finger nail opening the 6 pack or peeling the potato.

I'm sorry - I know that once your thong gets all knotted up "in there" it is a pain in the butt (pun intended) to get it out.

For the record, I don't have long nails to break & I don't drink beer. Also, making stupid ethnic jokes that are older & more worn out the the pages of your little black book (the one with 3 names in it) are lamer than your usual snappy rebuttals.

Hey Linda, you're on vacation, chill out.
If anyone is bored ( like me
), I don't know if you've ever looked at Jay Leno's Garage website, but he has some amazing Vettes there, and alot of cool cars with interesting stories he relates about them. Plus, he has C6 Corvette ZR1 with serial number 01. Yes, the first one off the production line.
