Default EZ Pass, problem solved.

From my previous thread we know one Corvette solution to a stealth location for EZ Pass is to use the license plate tag under the hood. I found this yesterday and with all the C6's large rear view mirror and the amount of stock shading on the windshield the ez pass virtually disappears.

I just got one of the suction cup holders at the auto store in black and cover the tag in black tape

I use industrial velcro and stick it above the battery under the hood. Works great.

Who runs a front plate on a Vette?

I have the best solution, no tag. What happened to me was, I took the Vette out once and forgot to bring the tag. I received a summons in the mail. Wrote my account # on the summons, returned it and now my plates are on my account. No tag on the Vette and all EZPASS tolls are deducted from my account.

We put ours behind the mirror with the velcro provided. The driver doesn't see it and we don't give a hoot who sees it from the outside!

I put my fr. plate ezpass under the hood; velcroed above the drivers side cowl. No issues in NJ EZPASS.

For NY ezpass tolls, the scanners are less sensitive and you have to go through very slow.

Wont work in NY tolls; the gate wont open and you have to wait for a cop to come yell at you and pay cash since you have no tag.

I find that strange as for years I went through all sorts of toll stops all over the state (mostly upstate, but did hit all over)in the large commercial truck I was driving. We used to switch the pass between vehicles (all the same class) The pass most times was on the floor between the seats and it worked fine. Truck was all heavy metal and thick glass I would think in a Vette it would work fine!

I think I'll skip the little black bag suction cupped to my windshield.

In my 03Z I did not use a front plate and put the EZPass windshied module behind the front plate filler piece. Never had any problem for travels in NY, NJ, PA, & MA.

In my O6Z I have the EZPass module in the console and take it out for tolls but I'm just going to stick it inside the center area of the front bumper cover - I would think that should not be a problem however I am wondering how it will hold up if it does get wet since it is designed to be inside the windshield. In my 03 it really didn't get wet behind the plate cover but on the 06Z I'm not sure how much water it would be exposed to on the underside of the bumper cover. I guess I'll find out.

It would be kind of embaressing to have a toll problem because my license plate is EZPASS

I use the same EZPass in 3 cars, so I just hold it to the windshield.

I was going to use the bag help water proof it and place it under the hood, but because of the large rear view and the large area of black out it just disappears. I'll post pix this spring.

I have three EZ Passes for our five cars. The C6 and the GTO don't have them mounted. If I'm going to be using either car on a toll road, I just take one from one of the other cars, keep it in the console, and hold it up to the glass when I need it.
