This question has probably been asked many times but I just moved here to NJ and I am wondering what the window tint limit is? I have seen some conflicting data that has said 30% vs No tint at all. I'm not sure if any of the info was outdated or not. Can anyone provide input? and if you have tint have you gotten nailed for it being too dark??
To the best of my knowledge, no tint of any type (beyond what's provided by the factory) is allowed on the windshield or the front doors. Glass behind the driver is unlimited.
We no longer have annual safety inspections, so enforcement is up to an individual police officer's discretion.

A friend of mine tinted his 500 SL. He went for inspection on a nice day with the top and windows down. They made him put the windows up and failed him.
No tint whatsoever on the front driver and passenger windows. Windshield you can go 4 inches. Just stay with the same as what is tinted on the windsheld. Rear windows, go as dark as you like. That's the bad news. The good news is, you won't fail inspection if your windows are tinted. You can still get pulled over and receive a summons.

they are all correct. No tint in the front, rear whatever you want.
Even though they are illegal in the front, they no longer fail you for it at the inspection centers. They only check OBD-II and that's it. Not even a sniffer test or visual cat check, nothing....Plug in, scan for codes, here's your new sticker
