Hey guys,
Would anyone be up for taking a ride up to MT. Washington in NH ?
Great drive and we can take pictures at the top before the snow comes. I just started looking into this and if we get enough people we can get the road to the top to ourselves. For this option I think we are looking at a minimum of 30 vettes, if not we can still drive it but we will be sharing the rode with other vehicles as well. I think it is open until the 2nd week in October so maybe we could try and shoot for something at the end of this month either a saturday or a sunday.

I'm not sure on this but I thnk its only a partially paved roadway..with ruts and rocks towards the top..thats what someone told me one time anyway..does sound interesting though..
I was up there 2 years ago in my Suburban. It's a first gear ride all the way to the top and back down. VERY narrow road. You have to stop to let cars go the opposite direction. Scared the crap out of my wife, who was on the cliff side. No guard rails.
Paved all the way up, but the turnoffs are dirt. Pavement wasn't the best either. May be rough on a splitter. Lowered cars need not make the trip.
Took the climb several years ago in Chevy sedan. I recall the altitude really affecting the carburator as I reached the last few hundred feet before the top...the smell of gas and the need to feather both the brake and the gas to keep the engine running made for a rather touchy drive. As Subfixer noted the road is not the easiest ride for a corvette, and also scared my wife beyond words since she took one look at the unprotected dropoffs into some of the valleys and just about faithed. I found it exciting frankly...
I did it last summer in my c5 and it was great. For those who are worried about the road, it was not a problem (unless the recent rain changed it) Paved 1/2 way at least. (more paved than years back when I had gone and there is some paved near the top too). The dirt section is hard packed clay so I didn't have problems with stones etc and I don't recall the splitter ever hitting.
It's hard to schedule ahead of time, if you can't see the top of the mountain, don't bother driving up or you will just see a cloud. It's kind of one of those things best done if you are there for a few days, and when you have the best cloud free or minimal cloud day just go for it. If it's cloudy when you get to the base, go do something and come back later in the day if it clears off.
My dog really enjoyed it too! -Dan

Great drive, Awesome views but you need to look at the cam in the morning before you go because the weather can be very different up there from what you have at ground level. It's not a lot of fun if it's super windy or cloudy as you're looking down at the clouds most of the time.
9 of us are heading up to that area this weekend, doing the Kanc...then staying in Intervale then a Sunday cruise around before heading home....weather looks crystal clear at the moment..just cool in the 60s here to it would be in the 40s up there on top of the Mtn. brrr

[QUOTE=Walt White Coupe;1578703576]Over the years I've done the drive 4 times. The vette can handle it. It's something you will never forget and worthwhile.
.
Come on Walt ; lets go with them !
I'm planning to head up that around the end of Sept. or beginning of Oct. and also hit the Maine coast for lobsta !

ok so lets get a headcount here for people that can do the last weekend of the month or first of september weather permitting. I think if we go early enough in the morning we can get there before the rush and have the road pretty open for us. Hope everyone can make it!

I'll be in New England after Oct. 2nd , if my plans come to be; I'll hit upper NY state, VT, NH, and Me. Then down the coast thru Ma, and Ri. I have no time frame. I could meet up somewhere. I have no clue where you're planning to leave from. Let me know.
