Default Paramus Chevrolet

I bought my car in NYC at Potamkin but they werent really Corvette people, and it was recommended that I have work done at Paramus Chevy.

They used to have a service manager there Jim Kobernik. He was great and was really comfortable when dealing with him.

Im bringing my car in this Saturday and called just to check that they could accommodate me, and Jim is no longer there.

Im guessing service is still the same (its always been great) and am not really worried about it, just thought he was a good guy and am curious if anyone knows why he left and where he went?

Why are you going to bring it there? Unless you're still under warranty, and need to bring it to a GM dealer, there are plenty of other options. In fact, Chuck at Corvettes of Westchester is certified to do GM service work if I'm not mistaken. I believe Vette Drs is also certified to do GM service too. Either place would be preferable IMHO. I did not like the attitudes of their sales people and the cars I looked at for sale which were prepped by their service department were NOT in good condition. Some folks love them. My experience was not good. VERY bad in fact.
Your choice, but I'd go elsewhere. I'm just sayin.

I didn't have a bad experience but I am going to say I didn't have a great one either. I bought my car there, and that overall was a good experience. I do everything else on the car myself but last hear I hit a pothole bad and had a shimmy. I brought it in and Jim was my service writter, turns out my rim was bent. I tried to bargin with them if they could even come close to an internet price on the rim but they would not budge from MSRP (bad). They did offer to mount the new ones once I got them (good). When I brought the wheels back, they scratched them while mounting (bad) but offer to replace them (good). When I went back to replace them they did a good job mounting them but scratched my rockers driving the car off the alignment machine (very bad). My car still has a shimmy above 75MPH and I lived with it last summer but am looking for a new wheel shop this year. Overall I will give them praise compared to other dealers (which is the reason I purchased the car from them) because they seem to be the ones with the most experience in the tri-state area (a lot of vettes go thru there) but I still think you need to be on top of them. Anyone know if Vette Drs does wheel balancing and alignments in house?

Might be a bit of a trek from NYC, but I lived in North Jersey until six months ago & dealt with Konner Chevrolet on Bloomfield Ave in W. Caldwell. The service mgr is Joe Garcia & the service writer is Santo Natoli. Both are very familiar with Vettes & the shop guys do a good job. However, anytime you bring your "baby" to a dealer or any shop for service, you should speak with the service tech & make sure they know what they're doing.....i.e. pucks under the rocker panels if they're lifting from those points; rear suspension grease points for Z51's; 2nd oil sump on Z06's; etc. Let us know what you decide & how you make out.

When I bought my '03 Z new I had a warranty issue, the left side axle seal (very common). I took it to Paramus and had excellent service, at that time. Not very long ago there was a change in ownership, family oriented. The person running it now could be the reason for changes that are negative. I won't say anymore but I had dealings with him at another of his dealerships. I won't do business at any dealership he is associated with, not a nice individual.

Had my oil changed at Paramus this Saturday..no issues.

The mechanic was aware of the drysump procedures and knew of the 2 grease fittings in my rear suspension.

Checked the oil later in the day after service and it was full..

They used a floor mat and seat cover..I have no complaints.

Used them a couple of years ago for my '01--had dexcool and brake fluid changed, they still had the vettes upstairs. Service guy's name was Dave and I forget the name of the tech that worked on the car but I was able to go in the back and chat while he worked on it.
