Default Captree off limits

have not been there in a while but went last Sunday and they had 3 trooper cars pulling every car that was on there way out.
looks to me like its captree no more unless you want to fork over a few hundred in tickets.

its been useless for awhile now. I stopped going once they started pulling on front plates to see if they could move them. They will do anything to write tickets there. Its a real shame...

Is this for the gathering at Captree or Oak Beach? Did they pull you over as well?

this was for Captree i would imagine oak beach would be worst when the cars try to pull in.usually starts up in a few weeks.
i was not pulled over i was about to take my vette but took my daily just to see what was going on and good thing i left it home would have cost me 300$$ to take it out(front plate and tint)
they should just be up front and say don't come down here were targeting you guys and that's that. i think it sucks that we have these nice cars and getting very limited as to were we can drive them.

Glad to hear that you took your DD down that way. It has been at least 2-years since I've been up that way. When I'm in town I usually take my father's 57 Chevy or his 36 Ford pickup out that way. It was something that I always looked forward to doing when I was in town!

That's because there is so little crime in NY there is nothing else for them to do but ticket people that collect cars for a hobby.
It also angers me that we have to pay to use the beaches on weekends, way before they officially open.
Let's find more ways to destroy the quality of life here on L.I..

I think they've gone out of their way to make it clear.

..
I had a conversation with a State Trooper that I know. They are down there because the people that live on the penninsula don't want the cars there on Sunday mornings. Or on any other mornings for that matter. They have to show that they are doing something to discourage the gathering.
They object to the way that a few individuals drive. I have to admot that it does create a dangerous condition and I would be pretty angry tooo if it were happening where I live.
It's always a few that ruin an otherwise god thing for everyone else.
It happended years ago at Bellmore, and almost happened there again from what I understand.
There is no winning. That's why I haven't been down there in a couple of years now.
If you really need to go, make sure you live by the letter of the law so you don't get any tickets.

Like I said I have not been down there for awhile so now I know.
It just seems like captree is more of a public place then oak beach
I wonder if this would go away if they were getting there 8$ at the gate.

I guess the State needs money. I haven't been there this year yet. The last time I was there someone's RX7 with an LSx motor wound up in the drink, happened after I left so I didn't see it.

So Captree is out, OBI is out. What's left on the South Shore?

TKO performance out in Bayshore always has a good turnout of vetees on saturday mornings. We start rolling in at 10:30am and leave about 2-3:00. Ed always is kind enough to feed us donuts and coffee.

Just saw in one of the Corvette Magazines (I cant remember the name for the life of me now.) a nice article on the OBI gatherings on Sunday mornings.

Sort of how the town and police dont want the gatherings but they cant really stop it as its a public park, and how it remains a nice place for a Sunday morning ride and gathering.

I cant imagine how people would be annoyed at a car gathering in OBI parking lot?? Or Captree for that matter. You would think either one especially the OBI would be ideal for this sort of thing.

Its not the parking lot that bothers people, its the ride getting there...apparently the people that live in the area get annoyed by the few bad apples that attend these gatherings. In a way, I can't blame them, its similar to my experience with all the NYC people on the LIRR in the summer going to Fire Island. They're annoying, yes, but I bite my lip, turn up the volume and wait for the summer to be over.

Its almost like you assume the risk by living at the beach, people want to visit. If you want isolation, buy an island in the Caribbean. Like I said, I see their point of view. It just sucks for us car loving socialites.
