Default Long Island Engine Builders

I've been getting quotes from a few shops on Long Island to get my 85's L98 rebuilt to stock spec. While some seem reasonable at $2700, other's are off the wall at $6000. Does anyone have any recommendations? I've looked into Benchmark Corvettes who were recommended from members of the Corvette Society, they come in at around $4800, but they don't do the engine rebuild, they send it out.

People have recommended Motorworks in Amityville, Thomas Auto Engine Rebuilders in Deer Park and Engine House in Farmingdale. Does anyone have any experience with any of these three? If you can recommend someone else, please do.
