Default chrome shop recommendations

in Jersey or eastern PA. I need to get my wheels (HRE) rechromed and prefer to work with a company that is local and comes with a recommendation. Can anyone recommend a shop? Thanks

I was looking for a chrome place also for a while. My results turned up that there aren't many places actually doing chrome anymore due to regulations and restrictions. Plus the places you do find, they like to charge a fortune and you might as well just buy a used set in mint condition. An alternate route worth looking at would be powder coating. You can have them powder coated chrome for relatively cheap compared to chrome dipped. Finish will look the same plus they will be more resistant to scratches. This info may be wrong, but this is what my research has provided me. Anyone else please feel free to chime in.

Default I agree that finding a recommended shop

in the area is difficult. I had not considered powder coating. I will look into that. Thanks for the information.

First suggestion is asking around at motorcycle shops, choppers, Harley dealers. Also, pick up a copy of Hemmings Motor News. You can get it at Walmart or Barnes & Noble. Chrome shops advertise in there all the time. Some very good ones are Paul's, Advance Plating and John's in Ohio. I know of them from street rod building.

I never had anything one by Paul's, but have seen things they did and they were excellent.
