Wow! Well, maybe reality caught up with their estimated meter readings? Maybe they aren't entering meter data correctly?
Maybe LIPA has been kicking their heavy debt load can down the road for too long?

Time for central AC. I live on Long Island like you and I pay around $150.00 a month in the summer with central air.

I have an 8500 sq ft home, with 4 central air units, zoned for 9 areas, my electric bill last month was 465 gas was 85, the hottest month this year I hit 690, get central air with high rated SEER numbers, you pay more but they will save electic in the long run. Insulation and good windows is also key

Electric now varies from about $90 to $115, depending on the time of the year in upstate NY.. Now that my hot tub is gone its I save about $20 per month. Note for heat we use propane!

2,000sqft house in CT. (The most expensive New England state) We did an overhaul this year on all things electric. (All LED lights, auto shutoff outlets/strips, updated outlets/switches, all new appliances)

We are also not big AC people, and make use of a whole house fan unless the humidity gets to us.

Previously we were spending between $115 and $210 a month.

We now spend between $70 and $155 a month throughout the year. (Note that we have oil heat with an on-demand hot water system and are swapping over to gas next year)

If you're spending $500 a month, either you don't control your usage very well, you have old appliances that are sapping the energy, or your house is gigantic.

My house is all electric. In the summer with the AC on, I pay around $180 a month. Once the heat comes on, it spikes to around $250 or more, to around $325 in February. Not cheap.

I can't even say that it's my kids. I'm 73, my wife is 68. There are no kids!! Just us in a 5 room single story house trying to stay warm enough in the winter and occasionally cool in the summer.

Try selling that solar house and what did you say the rental cost where? Is the repair and replacement cost free? Did those crazy taxes you have decrease?
