Default Need NJ Engine Shop

Can anyone recommend a good engine shop, preferably in north Jersey. I've been looking on a few of the sections and can't seem to get any solid recommendations. I'm looking to do a 383 stroker with the 350/350 NOM stock motor on my '69.

Thanks,
Joe

Where in Jersey? I hear that Gemini in Little Ferry on Mooache St, off of river up the block from Shotrite, is good. They build many custom and drag cars. I have no direct experience with them.

Ummmm, Newark is south of here. Little Ferry is in Bergen County about 20 minutes north of Newark.

Call Rich at North Jersey performance in Emerson. They have built at least 10 engines for me never a problem. Rich always calls with progress along the way and is always finished when they say or before.

They are in Garwood, and I think the deal more with the C5s and LS1 engines. A friend had a lot of work done on his 2003 there and said they are very good tuners.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I didn't realize Little Ferry was so close. I will call around. If anyone has any other places they could recommend I would be grateful.

Thanks,
Joe

What about Cartek in Garwood? I don't have any personal experience with their engine work but I was there for an exhaust swap and it lloks like they know what they are doing. Ask others?

They are in Garwood, and i usually see C5's out by the shop. Which would lead me to believe that like StephenT said above they mostly do LS1 work....but try calling them. They are a CF supporting vender

Clifton would be ideal, only about 10 min away. Is it Racing Machine Services on Cliftton Blvd? This was a place I planned on calling? They did good work?

Greens Performance Center in Red Bank. Central Jersey, but they are five minutes off the Garden State Parkway. Very easy to get to. Simply put they build great engines. Drag, show. They are super. Talk to Vinnie. He is the owner, all his guys know there stuff. Right not they have SS Chevelle in the shop on its way to Jackson Barret, $80,000. car. Boni Jovi's convert been in there. Walking into his shop is great, last week 55 chevy 700hp in one bay, the Jackson Barret SS in another, 57 chevy with 400hp being installed in another, 67 pont. gto conv.in another! It's just fun to walk in a look at the cars. Vinnie builds very sturdy engines. What ever you want. Tell them Ed said hi.

Thanks. This is one of the places I heard of. I'm compiling a list of about 8-10 places and will give them a call as soon as I can.

If anyone has any input as to how much a decent 383 build-up would be from my existing 350 I'd love to know. Not looking to brake the bank, just get something going that I can use on the street and potentially build on a bit later. I've heard estimates as low as 2K to as high as 5K.

CIRELLI in Paterson, NJ does excellent work. A little on the expensive side, but very well worth it. A#1 work!
