A few years ago I replaced my 218/218 cam with a 224/224. I brought it to Nick's for a tune as the idle and below 4000 RPM response were not very good. He improved the idle but no improvement below 4000 and above 4000 seemed a bit weaker.

After driving it a few blocks I brought it back and told him it felt slower than when I brought it in. He hooked up his computer and I guess changed a few things and said "that should do it" without the car going back on the dyno. It didn't. Rather then continue to waste my time I took it down to Andy at A&A and picked up another 20 RWHP and 20 RWTQ.

I know some people have had good results with Nick and maybe he was just having a bad day but I won't go there again.

There is always the love it/hate shops and the one that you mentioned is no different. There are many people who do not use the latter shop you mentioned because they have had a lot of problems as well. I know who I trust to work on my car and it is there right now (Advanced Dyno). Synergy is another GREAT place for stuff. Rick is a good guy!

I agree! I took my car to Nick and they not only do what you tell them to do but they will tell you what makes your car perform even greater with their experience. Every shop has their mistakes and Newtech is a good company which I wouldnt be surprised to see them be the next big shop. I had my car tuned, and had installed a big cam, pulley and a bunch of other mods which i dont remember anymore.

In short give them a try !

Well said
All shop's have issues, it's how they reslove those issues.

That will keep you coming back

Good luck with who every you pick

I have faith in 2 of the 3 shops mentioned. ( I was reprimanded for mentioning names of shops that are not CF sponsored vendors) But I will say one is in Suisun City and the other is in Hayward. The third shop I have no experience with because I could never get an appointment to do business with because they were always booked. One of the two shops gave me a rich tune because he had a faulty wideband and number two shop re-dyno'd and found the problem and gave me 20 more HP. So that is not to say I will not use the services of the shop that gave me a bad tune...that shop has since bought a new wideband to correct the problem..so my trust in them is renewed.
Bottom line is as mentioned all shops have a bad day and if they are known to be a good shop why not give them another chance especially if they correct their mistakes at no charge

Mike
I think I have read posts on just about every shop on the corvette forum where there was an issue that made a customer unhappy.
In most cases where there was reasonable belief that it was the shops fault, the shop stepped up to the plate and tried to resolve the issue.
On the other hand there are shops that are careless and treat your car like it was a Ford Once they have your cash it's SEE YA!
Like Mike said "it's how they resolve those issues that will keep you coming back

I know that Nick takes great pride in his work and especially in getting things done well. Even before I knew him, I had heard many good things about him and was planning on taking my car there. I have tons of confidence in recommending him to others.

True. That is the reason it's best to stay with the same dyno and tuner..going from tuner to tuner will be costly and confusing.

Nick did my tune and also had some work done there not that long ago. No problems for me, that's where I'll be going for any work in the future.

My car was on Nick's rollers the day after I bought it... he picked me up 28RWHP and a lot better driveability vs. the previous tune (done at a different shop). Nick is the only guy I'd let tune or wrench on my Z.
