Default Went over to the Dark Side (GT500) today

I've really loved visiting this forum the past few months, but today I was calling Sacramento area Ford dealers and after 8 or so said $8500 to $15,000 over MSRP for an 07 GT500 and to expect up to $20K over to order an 08, the last one on the list had a White with Blue Stripes at $5000 over. I said I'd take it at MSRP today. GSM had to clear it with his father/owner and would call me back in an hour. An hour or so later he asked when I'd be in. I was there and in and out in 70 minutes. MSRP, $55 doc fee, tax and license. 0% for 36 months with about 10% down. Will always have a soft spot for the Vette, but at this stage in my life a four seater made more sense with two kids. We already have a Solstice. Will still check in regularly as I really like the site and characters on here.

Now I have to take back all those bad things I ever said about Mustangs.

I'd attach photos, but I'm not a supporting member. Would email to someone if interested. Thanks.

Sorry to see you go to the "dark-side", but limited seating is the bad thing about the Vette.

I'm going to a Vette fest 1000 miles away and have to 20 +year old sons I want to take with me. Haven't figured it out yet, but.....?

Good luck!

How old are your kids? The back seats of Mustangs are cramped (hate the leg space)so hope your kids don't grow up too fast.

Good luck anyways.

Geez! Thought you were going to say you bought a Prius! Enjoy the 'stang. It's a beast. Loose about 600 lbs and it's a monster!

The back seat of a stang sucks!! I had one and I sat back there just to see how it was and I had to sit sideways. I am average build and not overweight. Besides a true sports car only has 2 seats.

Isn't that a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8? Okay, perhaps room for 5 - but 0-60 in under 5 seconds, top speed north of 180.... all with the aerodynamics of a barn...

I love Mustangs and the GT500 is an awesome performance car but I just don't think I could bring myself to choose it over a C6...I would likely sooner buy a C6 and then get a cheaper, used Malibu/Impala daily driver for the family hauling duties.
Still, congrats on the cool new ride though.

I've never been into Mustangs but by all accounts the GT500 is a nice ride. Enjoy it...drive safe...come back and visit when you can.

Boy 8 fits fine behind wife, daughter 5 is tight behind me. I have to move forward more than I like, but we made it work on a short drive this evening. I figure we have about 2 years, 3 tops before they are too big!

Almost as bad. We already have a Corolla for family/commuting needs. The GT500 does feel heavy. Nimble is not the correct adjective. Tank-like is more appropriate. But that's fine for me, it's not going to be raced or beat on. I think when the kids have moved out we'll be looking at a C8.

You picked a great color combo. Nothing like the original colors for me.

Which dealer did you get her from? I recall seeing an add in this weekends paper for 2 GT500's for 39K, but I dont recall which dealer. I thought about it for about 15 seconds but since I didnt have the best luck with my 03 Cobra I stopped thinking about it.

Best of luck and enjoy!!

No worries, just get use to the tail light of the Vette.
Now you can actually see them.

Have fun.!
