I really don't see your average Hummer customer buying Chinese, but who knows. This is a perfect example of the Greater Fool Theory.

So no more Chevy trucks, or are they just keeping the GMC heavy truck line?

As of now it will still be a GM made vehicle sold through GM dealer network and serviced by them. From the initial info I have read I would not hesitate to replace my current Hummer with a newer model a year or two down the road. NOW if there ends up being a signifigant change in build design/manufacture I would obviously have to re-think things.

They paid too much for it, I think one dollar would be a fair price. Their long term goal is to market Hummers in Asia and the Middle East where they THINK they can make the brand profitable. As far as American operations...that just adds to the cost...they have to build them in the current US plants for a few years and that wil add to the cost of acquisition. Currently you can barely give these things away and if long term gas prices go higher the brand is doomed unless they completely overhaul their designs and just use the name Hummer for it's brand recognition...and building them in Asia. Net costs of $1 billion plus (500 mil upfront and then paying the privilege to lose money in the US market for the forseeable future...) to pick up the nametag and maybe some technology...seems like a risky proposition.

Maybe they'll actually revamp the hummer to what a true hummer was. Even though the originals get worse gas mileage than the gm h2 and h3 haha but they were quite bad ***. i've always loved boxy trucks like the g wagon, defender 90's, and range rovers. what ever keeps cars alive, let it be.
