LSx V8 S2000 In the works!
LSx V8 Powered Honda S2000
We have been developing the S2000 platform this year. The car is currently under construction and will be finished in the first quarter of 2010. Our goal with the car is to develop mail order parts so the home builder can complete the project with ease.
Our conversion parts will be targeted towards naturally aspirated street and race applications. However, this initial build is planned to be a single turbo LS2 car.
We'll post more information as the development continues. Stay tuned...

More info please!
I know this has been attempted before, but I have not seen a completed project. Will off the shelf headers work / fit? What about the weight difference between an aluminum block LS and the f22c? What about the transmission and rear? etc, etc...
I've been waiting for someone to make this work, this has the potential to be a great swap.

I think you may be mistaken. The s2000 is just like a 3rd gen rx7. A great car with a crap engine and putting in a lsx motor is the perfect solution for that car. I would love to have one for a track car.

There have been several LSx swaps into first generation Miatas. They are brutally fast but the handling is ruined due to the car being nose heavy. I am assuming that the S2K conversion would encounter the same problems. However, the S2K is a stiffer car with a better chassis than a first gen Miata.

I'm a fan of the S2K and I own an 03 and an 02Z.Best of both worlds.
As a dev test driver for Honda in '97 when the car was being developed,I think it's a car with lot's of balance, good driveability and the 9k redline is just plain fun for a vert.
Instead of the V8,I would like to see a small turbo V6.It's an interesting project and I applaud Hinson for their work.To accomodiate the V8 power & tq,the entire drive train will have to be replaced.
Good luck with the project...

well the fact that turbo s2000's can make 500 whp on pump gas and 700whp on meth or c16 with just headstuds and a 3mm head gasket (clutch of course) , kind of defeats the purpose of putting a lsx into a s2000. just recently has turboing s2000 became popular, and the f20 (ap1) and f22 (ap2) respond to boost like crazy. check out this article by jeff evans- one of the best honda tuners in the country http://blog.evans-tuning.com/2009/10...-stock-blocks/
were talking 140 mph trap speeds here on a stock honda motor & drivetrain.

Yeah, but that's with a turbo...different animal than an N/A LSx. I'd love to see an LS2000, could be a phenomenal track car if the motor is back far enough (acceptable weight distribution).
Big motor/small convertible...what sports cars are supposed to be.
Be good,

true, i love do the way s2000 has such a rigid feel. but i just dont see the cost justification to put a lsx into a S2000, when the stock motors have so much potential. you could certaily use a smaller turbo setup for faster spool on a road course, like a garret gt3087R (disco potato). revving a f20 to 9K redline is pretty damn cool too.

S2000 engine is a great engine dispite everyones hate for Honda on this forum. Hard to find an engine that comes out of the factory at 100-120hp per liter n/a. I was surprised on a tear down that the factory block had forged pistons. Overkill for n/a but nice to know Honda tried their best not to skip out on cheap parts.

Based on his comment, I'd guess the expense of it. If all you need are some head studs and a turbo kit then you really don't need to go thru the hassle of trying to get the LSx to fit or the wiring headache.

how is the F20C1 (S2000 2 liter 8900 redline engine) a "crap" engine? you ever looked at the torque curve of one (it's flatter than hell) just not a lot of it, which it replaces with RPM to make the power it needs..
