Oil Change in a 2005 Infiniti FX35?
We recently bought a 2005 Infiniti FX35 that has 70k miles on it. I was wanting to change the oil and filter over to possibly mobil 1 synthetic? I have never changed the oil in this? Also if you know how many quarts it takes I would appreciate that, I assume it is 5? Any help would be appreciated. Thank You.

Most likely, you should be able to switch over to synthetic, but first, take out your owner's manual in the glove box (hopefully) and see what viscosity is recommended. Your manual should also list the number of quarts required for an oil and filter change.

Don't quote me on this but for some strange reason I believe Nissan recommends their own special formualtion on their VQ series of V6s. Here's a link discussing it...page 6 gets to the heart of the matter.

They did mention this in Car & Driver when discussing the 370Z. Apparently, the engine is noisier when any other oil is used.
This is why I always recommend looking at the owner's manual and not relying simply on internet listings.
