ZR1 vs Ford GT

When it comes to looks regarding the Ford GT, it isn't subjective. It is the best looking car of all time. That is a fact. And as someone said previously, there isn't that large a performance gap.

I am near the 1000rwhp level in my viper and have seen plenty of Viper tt's over that on stock the stock trans, and these are on gen 2's with the older trans, I believe the ZR1, Ford GT and New Viper have even better trannys, so I dont see any of these cars having a problem with 1000 rwhp, the clutchs yes, that is a no-brainer change when you have big power, but the trannys should be fine, as lond as the cars arent tracked every weekend.
These cars will break stock halfshafts, u-joints etc, but the trannys are pretty tough.
As far as resale very few late model corvettes will hold value, I waited about 2 1/2 years to buy my Z06 and saved about 50k(back when the dealears wanted 90k for theses cars)
These was a new 2010 1lZ ZR1 at my local chevy dealership, that they were going to let go for 92k, a 3lZ 2011 for 103k, IMO they just make to many model corvettes, now with thee GS's they have really watered down the corvette market.
IMO all corvettes should come with the Z widebody as the standard coupe looks to unagressive

Alot depends what you want to do with it......ZR1= easy comfortable daily driver......FGT= weekend cruiser and get alot of looks.
The ZR1 is losing value pretty quick right now but IMHO you will see them slow down once a used one becomes about the same price as a new Z06. But the cost of entry into the FGT is 150K + for a prime example and if you are going to drive it then you will probably lose as much value or more on it.
I own a 09 ZR1 and an 06 FGT.....I love both but the ZR1 is the perfect daily driver! If I could only keep one I would chose the ZR1

Both cars have superchargers anyway, I wouldnt convert either car to turbo.

I always like hearing from the people who actually own both cars or have at least spent some time in both of them. Looking at a picture and saying one car is better than another is ludicrous. I love the look of the LP560 and if I asked which one I should get, I’m sure the thread would go in the direction of this thread. Well, I spent hours in an LP560 and it gave me a perspective beyond the pictures I gawked over. I chose the ZR1 and have no regrets.
As for the FGT, I’ve only been a passenger so I can’t offer much insight other than I prefer the layout of the ZR1 and I prefer the looks of the ZR1, but that’s just my opinion.

Ya'll are missing his point. He's looking for a car that will appreciate in value... And for sure, the ZR1 is not going to appreciate any time soon. Ford GTs have held its price, maybe even a bit higher than msrp in 2005. To buy a ford gt now at 150's to 180's is a bit too much. But the upside to a ford gt "appreciating over the next 20-30yrs" is far more a probability than a corvette ZR1. Not by a long shot! So its not a matter of which car is better, and of course NO modifications at ALL if you want to keep it and possibly make money, because everyone knows that MODS are only valuable to the one who made them, not the buyer. MODS to a colletible is almost sacriligious!

Back to the OP, easier to "live" with the ZR1 than with the F-GT, I have a ZO6 and an F-GT, it's always a challenge figuiring out where to park the GT when out to dinner, not so with the ZO6, seems trivial but in reality it's an issue. You must try to parrallel park otherwise you won't be able to get out of the GT . But at the end of the day, having an F-GT is like owning a piece of American history, the design is timeless, and there's lots of racing history behind the car. Needless to say I can't wait to upgrade my ZO6 to the ZR1

I also love that new Lambo sesto elemento concept as well as that 250 GTO !!
The 250 GTO and original GT40 are such unique designs...love the GULF livery
different but still very cool..
