This is the Chevy you should compare to Mustang......not the Vette.

I drove a buddies 04 Z06 last night. He wanted me to abuse it a little. And im sure its much different then a 06 Z06, but it handles pretty nice.. ;-) Very stable at steep angles which require counter steering..lol

Same TR-6060 used in the '10 Camaro SS, 09-10 CTS-V, 08-10 Corvette, Viper, etc
That article is referring to the MT82 transmissions which is made in china and comes in the standard GT 5.0

That is not the transmission that comes in the GT500. GT500 has the Tremec TR-6060 6-speed

I think you've already made your mind up, but my$.02 I would keep what you have or upgrade to a GS coupe or vert.-or even C6Z06. I would not get rid of the GT500 for a base vette.

Well don't listen to this ignorant retard...
I've had an 03 cobra that made 480rwhp/540rwtq, and I personally guarantee you'll be dissapointed if you care about power and get an LS2 stockish vette, even a stock LS3 will feel like a dog until you mod it compared to what you have now.
I LOVE GT500's, especially the 2010, doesn't that have the aluminum block? Did you get the upgraded suspension package?
I have an 08 with long tubes/intake/dyno tune and make 425rwhp or so, and yes it's fast, it'll pull most pullied 03-04 cobra's by a couple cars despite being down by 30-50rwhp, once you get up and moving as a vette just keeps pulling after 120mph.
However, you could easily make 700rwhp with your current ride with a basic blower swap, do that.

My 2011 Shelby with Kook's LT, hi flow cats, 2.9 Whipple, etc. etc. puts out 665 RWHP at 17 lbs. boost on 93 octane and is very quiet inside (in part due to lots of Dynamat). Wonderful car!

I personally would take ls3 z51 mn6 instead of gt 500. However, I must say that you are sadly mistaken if you think that ls2 vette can hang with 2011 gt500. Put a pulley, intake, and a good tune on 2011 gt 500, and a stock c6z06 will be looking at your taillights.
