Hey everyone,

I've been a huge corvette fan since I can remember. I remember painting models of corvettes when I was little and I've always loved the style and performance of the car, however I don't own one. I'm definitely going to get one at some point in the future, so I decided to join the forum to learn a little more about the Corvette, particularly the C6 which is by far my favorite of all time. I just wanted to introduce myself and learn as much as I can before I eventually pick up my own.

As of right now, I drive a 2012 Mustang 5.0L. I'll post a couple pictures of the car and a mods list I have and if anyone has any questions about the Mustang I'd be happy to answer them. I'm looking forward to hearing all the pros/cons from the owners themselves!

OP, those are good cars. Anyone who doesnt think so is a fool in my book. Even with the SRA they handle quite well. Its not the same set up as an 88 F150 that people try to make them out to be. haha

Good luck in your search for knowledge. There is a lot here.

Drive safe.

Lots of ex-Mustang guys here. I used to be a regular over on svtperformance. I sold my Terminator and eventually bought a new C6.

I've been out of touch with the Mustang world for several years now. I didn't know a 5.0 can put down almost 400 at the wheels with just a tune?!?

Thanks for all of the quick replies everyone! Its funny, I would definitely consider the Camaro as more of an enemy than a Corvette. For some reason I love Corvettes, but really don't care for the Camaro at all.

And Top Fuel, yes my 5.0 put down just under 370whp from the factory on a DynoJet. After my intake/tune/exhaust I did a few pulls on that same dyno and made 391whp so I was definitely happy with the improvement from a simple mail order tune/intake combo. I have seen plenty of dyno graphs of guys that did long-tube headers and a catless x-pipe and are in the 425-440whp range

Nice looking Mustang, and the new GT 5 Liter is an excellant engine. Of course, you already know, the chassis is nowhere near a Vette, and a bit on the porky side. But for $30-35K, one heck of a package.

Yeah I'm sure the handling on the Corvette is unbelievable, but after my suspension upgrades the Mustang's handling capabilities are definitely impressive. After rebates and a little haggling I only ended up paying right around $29k for the Mustang

That and you see about 400 Mustangs on the road every day. Yes, there aren't a ton of 5.0's but still isn't anything out of the ordinary

nice car....but just curious, how much have $$$ have you put into the Mustang versus just buying a C6 (or a used C6)?

After looking through there are some beautiful c6's for sale at fairly reasonable prices. I'd be tempted to sell mine and buy one or trade mine, but I'm not exactly sure how to go about doing that being that I owe somewhere around $17k on the Mustang still. I'll have to look into that

I was just thinking that after looking at the prices of some of these used C6s. When I purchased the Mustang I got really caught up in the low interest rates on the new cars and the pure excitement of owning a brand new car and just kind of put the Corvette aside. I also use the Mustang as my DD and even drove it this past winter in the snow once or twice (wasn't all that bad actually). I just couldn't bring myself to drive a corvette in the snow and had to factor in the cost of a second beater car for the bad weather days also.

But to answer your question here's approximately what I've put in:
Cost of car + Tax = ($31.5k I believe and I put $12k down)
Suspension = $1200
Wheels/Tires = $1200
Audio = $200
Intake/Tune = $750
Gears/Install = $700
Tint = $140
Grill = $200
Exhaust = $400

Total = $36,290

Keep in mind I did get a good amount of this for christmas/birthday gifts right after I bought the car, and I did sell some factory parts to make back some money (rims/tires sold for $1000 alone)

I did invest some good money into the car and I think if I could do it again I might just pick up a c6 right off the bat

I've had a few stangs, keep going back and forth between the two! Had an 06 GT and a 07 GT500, loved them both but hated the hi-revving power curve. Vettes have SO much low-end torque, they feel a lot faster driving around town. I miss the stangs so much though, and will definitely go back to them, perhaps when the new body style comes out!

I went from 3.31s to 3.73s and along with the tune/intake I definitley improved the low end power, but I still don't think its where it should be. Its like from 4k-7k rpm is a punch in the face at any gear but you have to really be in 1st for the torque to really hit your stomach down low. I'd really love to take a c6 for a test drive and get a feel of the low end torque myself. I went to test drive one a couple months ago and the sales person looked iffy about it and said the car had been sold already. I don't think he wanted a 22 year old with tattoos all over his arms driving his vette lol

I like Mustangs. One of my favorite body styles is '69 Mach 1.
