I remember reading a review in a German magazine on the roadster two or three years ago. At that time I think Tesla was advertising a 250 mile range. Anyway, the tester started a 100 mile trip with a full battery. He got about 30 miles into the drive and was down to 1/2 charge, so he turned around and went back, knowing that he'd never make it. However, being German, I imagine he was driving rather fast.

My company (NVIDIA) designs the chip & control box that powers all the electronics in these cars (Instrument panel & entertainment).
They are pretty nice cars.

If and when the prices come down to around $35-40,000, I would get one! Why not? Most DD are used less than 200 miles a day. Plug it in at night and go again.

I just read there is one of the first charging stations on the east coast for the Tesla almost completed at a local mall parking lot. Looks like about 10-15 charging spots and will charge the car in 20 minutes - so they claim. I also know someone with a Tesla S and he claims a 3.9 0-60 although I couldn't find that claim on their website. I told him, hey that kind of has a Maserati look from the front and he said he was insulted.... Cocky bas#$!@, of course he's a plastic surgeon. It is a pretty nice car. It has led's on the exterior that light up different colors that I guess mean different things related to the various systems within the car. I find it interesting, but then again I'm an IT guy and love new tech.

When Hurricane Sandy hit the Northeast, folks who didn't have electricity for days, or weeks, would have had a tough time with all-electric vehicles. You can store extra gasoline 5-gallon cans at home; not so with electrical power.
I've seen one Tesla in person and, I must admit, I was impressed. But, I'd rather own something a bit more versatile fuel-wise. I am sure, however, that most Tesla owners have, at least, one other internal combustion vehicle.

As the OP I jokingly called it the "anti-Corvette" cause it was electric, 4 doors, big, essentially silent, and overloaded with the latest computer and GPS technology. Kind of made sense to me at the time.
I'm all for the electric vehicle concept but not sure about having to use a giant iPad in the center of the car to control all the vehicle functions. I don't even like the iDrive in my wife's BMW. Much rather have some ***** and switches. Must be a generational thing.
Actually very happy with the setup in the C6.

The tesla s performance model is the four door I'd most likely purchase. I think its that good. I'm seeing quite a few of them on the road.
