If you follow the story and documentation, it seems Steve McQueen tried to buy back what he referred to as 'his' car in 1978 in a letter written to the current owner's father. The letter was not very diplomatic or tactful, and was ignored by the owner of the car. Steve offered to trade an equivalent Mustang as long as it 'wasn't too expensive'. LOL.......
