Help, I have a convertible!
Ok, up front I’m talking about a 1968 Pontiac Catalina Convertible, aside from some troubles with the top, it’s in very good condition.
1st issue: (it’s been so long since I was in the car) I forget which - going up or going down it’s really slow. The prior owner said he believes the hydraulics needs bleeding. The pump is pretty new with not very much use.
Does this sound right? Hard to do?
2nd issue: (See photo) The bow? The rib that goes along the back of a lot of tops above the rear window, the stiching has come apart. Can this be fixed without becoming a major job? I was going to try to glue it together but I’d rather not.
i hope when you expand the photo you will understand my dilemma.
3rd issue: I used most cleaners I could think of. The top doesn’t look weak of too old, it’s just very dingy all over. I would like to see it whiter. Is there something the pros use? Is there a dye?
Thanks for your time in advance,
Rich

1. Fill the reservoir and put the top up and down a few times. Fill it again.
2. I'd guess you're going to need a new top, but you could take it to a top shop and see if they can do something for you.
3. Raggtopp is what was recommended to me and what I use. Nothing works all that well though.

How come some forums don’t have “Thank You” buttons?
