Mopar Jimmy is back with a Vengeance buying back my 1965 Superstock Dodge Coronet 500
Long story short I owned my 1965 Dodge Coronet 500, set-up just like they were drag raced back in the day, 5 years ago, and I sold it 4 years ago. Well I see the car over the last 4 years at local car shows and the same owner who I sold it to, approaches me at a car show last week and makes me a deal I could not refuse to buy it back from him. The poor guy lost his garage space and said he needed the $, so I bought this rare, nostalgic piece of American Hot Rod and Drag Race History, back today, in the same great condition like it was when I sold this exact same car 4 years ago. This is same exact car that evolved into the first Funny Car back in the day.
Has a nice street friendly high performance 383 big block, torque flight 727 trans, with a Dana Rear End with 4.10 Gears. Its great to bring this car back into my garage.

Cool story bro! You know the old Mopars are where my heart is. Hope to get to see her sometime this year.

Great looking car. I had a '66 Coronet 440 with a 440, 4 speed, and 3.23 Sure Grip out back. Red with black and white bench seat interior. Original paint and interior. Had 63,000 miles on it when I sold it in 1996 for $3000. Should never have sold it. Mid-Sixties Mopars are neat cars.

Yeah, she is definitely a unique and real cool blast from the nostalgic drag racing past. May have to keep her for awhile this time around. Thanks for the kind words guys, have a great weekend!

How cool is that? My favourite era of Chrysler products.
Enjoy it and for goodness sakes don't lose it again.

GT3
So I haven't tracked the GT3 yet and I don't have to, to realize that the ACR is the track dominant car. I loved the ACR but always wanted a GT3 and the opportunity finally came about, so the ACR had to go. I've never driven anything street legal that felt as glued to the road as the ACR. I don't even think the new ZR1 will match it, in that area. The GT3 however is the more fun car to drive. Certainly its down on power compared to the ACR, but on the street (which is where most of my play is), its not that big of a deal. On small tight turns the GT3 actually feels better than the ACR, this obviously changes as speed increases. As you've prob heard a million times, the PDK trans is ridiculously incredible. The shifting is really where the GT3 shines. Up shifts / down shifts, doesn't matter, shifts are lightning quick and precise. The car is quick, nimble and I like not having the long front nose for a change. Launching goes to the GT3.....launch her, she squats and goes, minimal traction loss esp for a rear wheel dr car.
If I could change 1 thing on the GT3, I would have it come with more HP, however, I feel the exact same way about the ACR. I felt from the very beginning Dodge should have given the ACR more HP than the rest of the Viper line up....Reasons - giving the ACR a little bit more separation from the rest of the Viper line up and, to help push through all the downforce the car makes.
GT-R
This car has been on my bucket list for quite a few years now. Goes like this (true story). About 3 months ago, I woke up and literally said to myself, "Im ready for a GT-R". The search began and about 4 weeks into the search, I was able to land a 2015 with 2200 miles. As far as how it compares to the Z....I think the Z is the better track car (although I haven't tracked the GT-R yet), and the GT-R the better street car.
The Z brakes and handles better and I def prefer the lower center of gravity of the Z compared to the Nissan. The Z had the better int and was a sharping looking car. The GT-R, I always felt was a mundane looking car to be such a great sports car. However, I did put Advant wheels on, some carbon fiber and it will be lowered soon. Looks much better now and much more aggressive.
I didn't really get the GT-R as a "replacement" for the Z, but I rather wanted a new and different platform. The GT-R is a very well balanced car that is forgiving and compliant (something I'm not used to). The most impressive thing about the car, if I were to compare it to the Vette or the Viper is....The GT-R is heavier than both, and down by slighter more than 100hp and feels every bit as fast both of them. Forget about take off...If you're in the vette and have an A8, I guess you'd have a chance, but otherwise the GT-R will prob win that race each and every time (and Id prob wage that against the A8 as well if on the street). Traction obviously is not an issue with the AWD and the DCT is the icing on the cake.
Although the car sits higher than my likings, it is very comfy and its manners are quite docile until in the boost. Next year, the modding will begin and.....look out...

Boba, thanks for that comprehensive review. Bottom line: They are all fantastic cars. Sounds like you are having a blast. That's what it's all about.
Next up: Mid engine twin turbo Vette. These are the good old days
