Wrecked my car last night. This after a great day spend at Brad's doing x pipe, Thermal abs, powder coated calipers, drilled and slotted rotors and a bunch of other stuff.
The prictures don't really show the damage well, as I don't use cameras well. As you can see the wheel is aimed right. The steering wheel and right wheel go straight. Suspension is all caved in. F55 control stuff is smashed. fender, nose rad support and headlight assy are toast. Wheel is bent. Can't open the hood. Gonna be pricey. Probably won't get her back for a month or two, I'd imagine.
From: No more yankee my wankee, the Donger is tired!
Sucks to hear, but that repair should be done in under a month. granted i can't see the frame or the front impact bar. But all of the stuff you showed bolts on easily.
Yes, it could have been so much worse. No sheet time for anybody and my leg is already feeling half decent.
I don't think I'll see this car repaired for a few months to be honest. I need to find a body shop first and foremost. Anyone know a good body shop to use in the issaquah sammamish bellevue area?
I can't tell the true extent of the damage (hood won't open) but it is worse than the pictures show. The radiator support area is moved sideways. You can see in one of the pictures that the fog lights don't line up with the holes anymore. The steering rack is hosed. As is every part of the left front suspension. Including the level sensors for the F55. I actually haven't got down there to see where in the frame the problem is, but what you can see in the picture is my brand new frame rail protectors from Elite got sprung on the driver's side. Something serious had to cause that. On the other hand the doors, hatch, and glass top work perfectly, and the lines are still right. Had the frame been bent I'd think one of the doors would be out of line. They aren't. So maybe I got lucky there.
Thing is, I've been waiting for a month and a half for North Bend Chevy to get two mirrors for the car and get them painted. This under warranty. If I can't get two mirrors for the car in under a month and a half how the hell am I going to get half a nose and an entire suspension put together before September?
I don't think my car is going to make it to any Sox games at Safeco this year.
That's a big bummer. Especially that summer is just now about to start. I could be wrong, But I am thinking it's not as bad as you may think it is. Are you sure the rack and pinion is toast, and it's not the tie rod steering arm? The fender is easy to replace, but........the inner fender well is a PITA because it's glued onto the frame. I got a torch red hood I will sell to you cheap if you need a hood. But if you are letting your insurance take it to a body shop, they may want to repaint it all at once. Anyway, sorry to hear about the accident, but I'm glad nobody had to go to the hospital. I hope you can get it fixed soon.
Not yet. They're taking frame measurements to be sure there is no frame damage, all of the suspension mount points, etc. Then they'll do a complete parts inventory. They told me that they would be able to tell me on Tuesday where we stand. They're being fussy as hell on this, and I don't mind a bit.
Sorry to hear about the accident. If you don't come to an agreement with Bellevue Auto, try Showcase in Kirkland. Both my dad I have had success with them in the past (with a C5).
Thanks guys. Talked to them today. He assured me that they would only use geniune GM parts, new, not used. No re manufactured parts. No repolished and rebalancing the wheel. It's bent and that's a safety issue.
I asked about things like the side cove screens, the Z06 grill screens and the Callaway. He said The car would be restored to the condition it was in before the accident and if that included side cove screens that would be covered. At $17 a set I can imagine it's no biggy, right? I didn't drop the price of the Callaway on him because at this point I don't even know if it's damaged.
I'll get a detailed list tomorrow of the damaged parts.
He said I'll get an ETA by the end of the week, but it looks like late July to Late August, all depending on parts availability.
I'll be honest, I'm well past the "glad I didn't get hurt" stage and I'm depressed as Hell. This coming week's Sox visit is the first time in a few years that SOX-FAN was not parked in front of Safeco for a Red Sox game. Believe me I'll still enjoy the games, but that old Monte Carlo with plain old plates isn't nearly as much fun at a Sox game as is a Red Corvette with the plates SOX_FAN.
They got the busted fender off and busted front bumper cover off and the hood opened. The headlight went down by itself once they got the fender away from it, and amazingly, though it was pinched it has no damage.
Damage parts list so far is fender fender liner, inner and outer tie rods, steering rack, wheel, assorted fasteners. Tomorrow they will know about upper and lower control ams and ball joints and spindle. They'll know about the F55 servo or whatever it's called, shock, and all the wiring that goes with it, as well as radiator support.
He thinks I'll have it back in time for the August Sox games here in town.
