I personally wouldn't count on the Laser part of a radar detector to save you very often if you are the target. Even if you buy the best radar detector you need a Laser Jammer(shifter) to get better protection from laser.
If you are interested take a look. Also, Radarroy.com is a good place to start if you want information on radar vs laser.
If you have to speed, keep it down, and always use the best "Protection"
If you're in front of me, it's because I want you to be there. If I'm in front of you, it's because I want to be there.
I used a V1 on a 5180-mile trip a few years ago. I picked up a LIDAR signal because of the rabbit in front of me. Other times, I picked up signals as the lead car. But in all those cases, I was close to the speed limit.
I have a Blinder that has been sitting in my garage for over a year. Guess it's time to install it.
I installed a M40x into a C6 late last year, I can send you some install pictures of how it went in the front of the car. That system had three laser modules up front and one in the rear. I really don't think you need the rear module, because 99.9% of the time the LEO's beam you up from the front end. Which reminds me, for those of you crossing the I205 bridge into Portland from Vancouver, beware that there is a huge speed trap in the evenings on the southbound side of the bridge. Oregon had at least 8 MC cops and 4 cruisers there last night popping people for speeding across the bridge. My V1 caught them as they were beaming up people. I wasn't speeding anyway but neverless my V1 was going nuts with the laser alarm. Time for me to get a Blinder as well.
Nobody does the 55MPH speed limit over that bridge so I'm not suprised that OSP would run a trap there. Most people are doing 65-70. Oregon needs to raise their speed limits to 60 to match WA.
I remember the days when OR didn't have speed limits on I-5 (early 70's??). The signs said something like "Reasonable and Prudent". I remember doing 125-130 in my '70 LS5 Vette once I got out of the Tigard area going south. Even passed a few OSP cars and just got a wave from them. Ahhh, the good old days.

Tom, that would be great if you can post the pictures. I only have two laser modules and I plan to install both in front. I agree with you on the rear one.

Mounted my C5 laser units next to the fog lights. Next time would use two sided industrial tape on mounting brackets as the brackest have screws you can adjust to get it level. I have three units and think i will put the other one on the front plate plate instead of the back.
SP's usually target plates or headlights from what i read. It's kind of a fun thing for me as i usually keep it under 5 over...is that an oxy-moron.....but it keeps me awake sometimes watching the radar.
Note....isn't laser the real reason for reflective and front plates in WA. Bet a fly on the wall at WSP could tell you it is.
PS - Tj sure doesn't look like the back of a "Suburban" :> And is the laser system working for you. Thought i saw where you got pulled over with some vettes on a cruise recently?

The car shown is a customers car, so I don't personally have laser protection on my car. And yes I was pulled over on that cruise to the coast last weekend. I was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Plus there was a hall monitor that called the lead car in to the WSP, which was speeding at a high rate of speed when he passed the hall monitor, I guess the guy thought he would do a good deed and call the WSP as the trooper knew exactly where we were, the lead car passed me like I was standing still, I followed him for awhile and caught up to him when he decided to slow down, a few minutes later the WSP was headed east, saw us and made an abrupt u turn to get us. He says he clocked us at 65 in a 55 with radar, my V1 never beeped until he made that U turn, I seen him a 1/4 mile ahead of us before he passed and turned around. My V1 would beep at supermarket doors, and if he had is radar on I can be assured that it would warn me, no one elses detectors went off either until the trooper turned around. But is his word against ours, so that is why the three of us is going to contest it in court.
