Seattle Member gets a Forged LS7 in his 07 Vert!
I just completed a LS7 swap into a 2007 C6 Convertible. The owner is a local forum member from the Seattle area. No real numbers on the dyno yet because I want him to break it in before it gets a workout on the dyno. But preliminary running on the dyno for part throttle tuning shows a engine that has the capability of some fairly big Hp and Tq numbers. For instance I only buzzed the engine up to 4800 RPM and it made over 465 ft/lbs before that RPM! Hp was at 430 something and it was pointing at the moon at a 45 degree angle
The engine is a all forged 430 cid built with a LS7 block. LME built the short block loaded with forged Callies and wiesco internals. The cylinder heads are from Texas Speed which is their CNC ported version of the GM LS7 heads loaded with Manley Ti valves and double springs. I used a relatively mild 228/232 cam with .630 lift for good drivablilty and fuel economy. Being that this engine is in relatively mild tune, I expect that it will make around 525 to 530 to the wheels. And the good thing is that it will do it without attracting cops by utilizing the stock mufflers out back coupled to a set of LG Motorsports Z06 headers. Its a total sleeper package
I wlll be editing this post and adding some pictures of the installation to show what it took to get the new engine in place. All in all it appears stock when you look into the engine bay. Well, other than the obvious cam lope and headers that you can hear and see.
Rays 2007 Convertible
Prepping transaxle for removal
Transaxle out
Pile of parts
Engine removal
Swapping engines on K member
New arrival in engine bay
Transaxle and exhaust going back in
Final stages and finally on the dyno!

Nice work Tom. Damn I was hoping to get up there to see part of this but couldn't get away from work. Looking forward to seeing some real numbers.
Now I know you did this just to taunt me into getting more hp.

Just used a LS7 clutch. I felt its adequate for this application because Ray isn't going to be going to the strip. Its basically a street car and he doesn't abuse the car. It is in a mild state of tune as well.

Awesome, again.
TJ,
As the recipient of Ray's old LS2, I thank you for the great work. It's going into the red '73 in my avatar. I just checked the tracking and it's enroute from Boise to SLC and hopefully soon to my garage in CT.
I'm glad I flew out to meet Ray and ride in the car before the motor came out. He's a real nice guy. Sorry, I couldn't get down to meet you. Maybe I'll take a long road trip when I get the '73 built and visit.
