i'm not gonna go into a bunch of details, but i went to fill the truck up yesterday, so when the pump clicked off, i told the kid to go ahread and top it off, and he said " thats against the law" so i say how come? i guess its against the law to top your fuel tank off by order of the EPA

Yes its a fact in Oregon, you no longer decide how much gas to put in your car.
Not the EPA, it was by order of Gov. Colonoscopy, as was the 6 cent per gallon tax increase.

I filled up on June 29th and made that request of the attendant. He said to enjoy it today for it is going away by "Teddy the Terrible"

Just became active. I prefer no top-off anyway on the vette - just asking for someone to spill gas on your paint.

Also make a note January 1, 2010 no talking on a cell while driving unless its hands-free.

That is one of the few good things this Legislature has done right.

New York enacted a cell phone ban too. After one year, they commissioned a study and guess what? There was no appreciable drop in accident rates.

Stupid is as stupid does. That's the Oregon Legislature

The WA ban is only a secondary traffic offense; you have to be stopped for breaking another traffic law before you get a ticket for holding a cell phone. But texting is a primary offense.

There was a stat published earlier this week that there were about 20% fewer accidents in WA in 2008 where a cell phone was involved. But it doesn't take much for stats to bounce around. There are lots of people crying for making hand-held cell phone use a primary offense and having a law read for the 2009 Legislative session.

As far as topping off, what does that really get you? Most people let the pump handle shut off automatically and it can be hard to get much more than a half-gallon in after that. At least that's the way it works on both my 87 and 02.

My Mercedes SUV takes 2.5 gal after the pump clicks. It sucks not being able to get a full tank in Oregon. I drive to the mountains to ski just about every weekend in the winter and like having a full tank when I leave.

I know you can't pump your own gas in Ore. but will the attendants let you remove the nozzle when the tanks full so there are no drips/other damage?

Or are they actually paying attention......

They will let you pump your own gas if you get out and take the nozzle from them. They let motorcyclists fuel their bikes, whats the difference?

Is our idiot Governor Poop Shoot going to have petrol pump patrols to watch for the topper offers What a waste of manpower and monies from our police force! A total blooming idiot if you ask me. The gas station down the street lets me pump my own fuel without any issues. Or I just fill up in Vancouver before coming home. I hate letting some of them goof ***** fill my tank for the risk of them scratching the car when they do so. Most attendants don't have the common courtesy to make sure that they are careful with our cars.

I just know I am going to go "Norman Bates" on one of these bad-attitude kids someday. Instead of hanging the gas cap on the hook provided by GM on the back of the gas door, they just let it drop against the paint.

My other issue with gas-pumpers: my other weekend car is a `56 Chevy. As most of you here know, the gas fill on a `56 Chevy is hidden behind the left tail-light. If I don't jump out of the car and beat them to the rear of the car, they will be doing some damage trying to find the fill. I had one grab my rear license plate frame and yank back on it, breaking the frame and severely bending my vintage 1956 plate.

as I said before They dont want to touch our classics, So they allow us normally to fill our own tanks. Expect for like in larger cities or larger gas stations.

I too rather not have the tank topped off. It is just asking for a spill on the C5 or any other car I have. And why pay for gas that doesn't make it into my engine? As far as attendants, the ones at my Shell in West Salem seem to be careful around the C5. Haven't had one do anything dumb yet, and I am grateful for their carefulness so far, during the 3 years I have owned the car and taken it there. Re gas tax, I am all for it. 6cents is nothing when the price of gas can jump 10cents in a day, and even more at times. I rather the money go to a road improvement than to line some greedy oil company executive's pockets. Or to a foreign country. Just my 2cents! Jon
