Strange fact: I live in a college town, drive ridiculously, and despite being pulled over for going, say, 65mph over the speed limit (at 2am, I'm not totally irresponsible), usually the cops are just glad I stopped.
I have never in my life gotten a speeding ticket. Two warnings in a week for excessive speeding though. Usually they will just say, "Well, you were too far away for me to clock you, but you need to slow down!".
I think i know why though... a lot of the cops here in town are vetters themselves, and I only speed when there are no cars on the road. They know whats up

I got popped last Saturday night in Salem for 15 over. First ticket in 30 years

I'm going to do a survey of the area regarding sign posting. From a cursory look at the ORS, I'm not sure the area is legally posted.

Bummer!!! Now be honest, how many times have You cheated fate? Like the rest of Us? It has been that long for Me as well, when I got pulled over last year for NO front plate! The female trooper rake My butt over the coals!!! then out of the kindness of Her heart She let Me off with a warning... Any body want to take bets whether or not I now have a front plate? I will admit that some of those post areas are hard to understand. - Z51's Dad.

Over here in Kitsap County I have noticed a few more Sheriff Deputys on the road doing speed surveillance.

In fact a lot more. As times get tougher, traffic tickets are a viable revenue source that is fairly cheap to get.

Police in my town are ruthless. So ruthless that this one time when I was out at uh lets say a large gathering of students taking a study break, they didn't shut the party down, they just stood out side the front door ( at one point there were 5 of them!), and issued as manny M.I.P.'s ( minor in possession) as they could.

The police only come to bust up parties dude to the noise violation code, yet this time they didn't care at all about the noise code, it was all about the $

Default Problem's in Oregon

Is the 55 mph state highway and 65 interstate.
No one drives the limit! They all are 5-10mph.Then the 15-30 over drivers. LEO's break the laws.
Save the "he's on a call stuff." It promotes disrespect. So you have people doing crazy unsafe passes on the few that do drive closer to the limit. Their still speeding.
Just not as much. They wonder why their safety record is so bad!
It is in the Oregon rulebook that the speed will be set to 85 percent
of the drivers. They break their own laws making the rules.
They need serious help! Common sense eludes the Oregon law makers.

They have town cops on the interstate 5 fishing for tickets.
The town may only have 500 yards of interstate that goes though the edge of town. I saw them with a winnebago motor home with the laser gun out the window. They are also using spotters at intersections.
Just someone standing on the corner plain clothes. Radioing ahead
for seat belts and cell phones.
All out revenve grab.
