So my car is currently in a store parking lot(walked home) Came out to it and it won't start....I've got power, lights, radio, air, everything, but when I turn the key it doesn't start. It does everything it's supposed to but start. Voltage meter reads 12.something so I don't think it's battery...

Okay so I read another post that pointed to starter too, but also mentioned doing a couple things like putting key on ground to "ground" it..and cleaning the metal leads on the key chip with an eraser. All that to say I walked back over to store and it started right up. Drove home and turned it off and started it back up again. Also Phil just a heads up that I didn't have to step on brake to restart it..
Anyways, not sure what to do, but keep an eye on it....I really appreciate the quick responses I got!
Get in the car and turn on the headlights. Then try to start it. The lights should dim a little bit when the starter tries to engage. If they dim a lot then the battery is probably low on voltage. If they do not dim then the starter is not getting any voltage, which would indicate the starter solenoid is dead or for some reason is not energizing. Also, check the battery connections for tightness and then clean them if one of them is loose. Loose or dirty terminals can cause problems.

Hmmm, never thought of that idea, Keith. Thanks.
My next suggestion was to suggest the car might be possessed and requires an exorcism. That, and the notion of pushing in the clutch, pretty much sums up the total of my diagnostic skills. Well, that and asking if you'd like to buy a new Mazda, which I can certainly arrange.

Not sure about C5's but, I know on my C4 when the key chip was dirty it wouldn't do anything. When I put the key in, the ignition would turn and that was it. BTW rubbing alcohol is a good way to clean the chip.
I would check the battery cables to ensure they are tight. I had similar issue and it was the cables. Good luck.

From what I've been reading on this forum over the last few years, Mike, I'm inclined to believe that not only are most Corvettes blessed with Holy Water, but probably are embedded with relics of The True Cross and blessed by the Pope himself as they roll off the assembly line.
Well, except for the ZR-1. That can only be The Devil's Work

Devil's work indeed. How GM could have spawned anything other than a naturally aspirated big block to wear the crown. Anyone planting their foot firmly on the accelerator pedal will surely tell you the car is possessed and wears the mark of the beast ... or close 638
