there is not "one" aftermarket balancer for any generation. there are choices and decisions to be made. will you be doing the R&R yourself or would you like recommendations for a shop to do the work? somem opt for an underdrive damper. if you ever plan to put on a power adder like a supercharger you wouldn't want one of those. some folks opt for a cam upgrade when doing a harmonic damper change - it's alot of work to get the damper off (on C5's you have to move the steering rack) and then the cam is right there. some folks also opt for other upgrades while in there too - timing chain upgrade, timing chain cover upgrade (2 piece), etc.
give us a little more information and you'll get more responses.
We have a 2007 C6 base model, don't want to go racing just need a better replacement then stock {going on the third balancer}. We were looking for a good shop to do the work, as GM will only replace it with the same failing units.

Three balancers??? What is going on with them? I work on a lot of these cars and I can say that I have seen some that will run a bit untrue, especially in the older C5s. I have not run across to many C6s with that issue. If you want the best aftermarket replacement I would go with an ATI balancer. Durabond also makes a decent aftermarket unit, and it can be had in the standard demensions. I usually don't recommend underdrive pulleys, but Durabond makes a good one, and if I remember right its available in the standard replacement size.

Curious why? As everyone else seems to be using them. Not doubting your reasons or observations, as you have lots of experience, just curious what problems you are noticing with these?
The factory balancer is a two piece assembly bonded together with rubber, the bond is letting go. If looking at your pully and see it wobbling its ready to go. Warrenty will only allow GM dealers to replace it with factory parts, our last one lasted two thousand miles. The only way out is to replace it with after market parts.

They do make one in the standard size. I bought one for my 427. You'll be installing it soon
