Hey guys. I'm new to this forum and wanted to get the word out that my uncles 1957 Chev Bel-Air Convertible was stolen Saturday morning in Burien Washington. It's turquoise and has a white top. Sorry for not really staying on the Corvette topic but at least it's a Chevy, and he spent many years restoring it to perfect condition.
1. the mod did step in, at my request actually.
2. its not vette, its not tech, mans trying to find a stolen car, I wouldnt look in tech for help with that.
3. its a new member, I'm trying to help, all you're doing is argueing'
try to stay on topic, its real simple as two other posters have proven, provide info to help the man with his orginal issue
4. just because you post nonsense in vette tech. doesnt mean you're right, it just means you made a mistake
TRY TO STAY ON TOPIC
hope this helps
Bad news, Sorry. For a while stolen rigs were headed by the boat load to the Soviets. I gotta think Homeland security shut that down. I wish I had a bright idea for you. Good luck.
I moved this thread here from the C6 Tech section as it would get more exposure here, which is the region it was stolen in. Any more negative criticism send it to me in a PM.
Yes the WSP and local police were immediately contacted
A witness reported seeing the car in the shop less than 1 hour before it was stolen.
The theft was featured on Crime Stoppers, Washington's Most Wanted earlier tonight on Q13 FOX (Sept 28th)
I wish I had some pictures but I don't, there are lots on the show and you can just google the story.
It was taken from my uncles shop, Burien City Garage, which he has owned for 35 years.
Thank you all for the support, and I guess I owe some special thanks to the moderators..... I'm not sure what was going on in this thread but thank you. And to "Crepitus" it's weird but this is the same thing one of the officers said and that the car is probably sitting in some cargo container waiting for the next boat, Grrrrrr.
I'm thinking about getting Lo-Jack for my 1972 convertible now.
excellent, we realized you were a new member and wanted to help get your thread to the section where it would get the best visibility and do you the most good. a few folks didnt understand. best of luck with that issue and any others you may have.
Hey everyone, I just wanted to give you an update on my uncles stolen 57 Chevy. It was recovered on Oct 31!!! Woohoo!!! It went down like this. A guy in Colorado Springs received a call about a Chevy Impala he had for sale. The caller said he was from Seattle and wanted to know if the guy would be interested in trading the Impala for a convertible 57 chev. The Impala owner received a text with a picture of the 57 and got suspicious because of the cars value compared to his Impala. He did a Google search for 57 chevys in Seattle and the most popular story was about a stolen one that matched the picture he received. He called my uncles place of business, Burien City Garage. My uncle is currently in Texas with family so the shop manager took the call, got the info from the guy in Colorado and then called the detective. It took two days to obtain a search warrant but on Halloween night they showed up at a house that was about 10 miles from Burien City Garage and found the car in the garage. The guy was arrested and the car is just fine, although the original license plate from 1957 is missing. But a very happy ending.
If I did this right, there is a link for the youtube video from the police the night they recovered the car.
And, of course I didn't embed the link correctly, sorry.

Reason: explaination
Wow, congrats! Amazing how efficient things can be in this modern age. A couple decades ago that car would've been gone.
Although my Dad recently got a .357 pistol back from the police dept. that was stolen 30 years ago and legally sold through a pawn shop in the early 80's after it was stolen.
Thats great to see a happy outcome. Hopefully they will throw the book at the perps! In these days it isn't always a good outcome when it comes to stolen cars and especially for stolen classic and muscle cars. Often these cars are gone and never to be seen again.
