I too, prefer a manual in a sports car for the involvement of it. I searched for over a year before I found the C6 M6 I have now.
I wonder what the ratio of Corvettes sold with automatics to manuals has been before and after the introduction of the 8=Speed Auto?

My $0.02
My highly modified '03 Coupe was an A4 originally. It was my DD/Track car. I couldn't keep the A4 cool so... out with the A4 and, in with the RPM Level V T56 MN12.

For me personally, the A4 was fun and easy to drive on the street. On the track, I feel I have more control on what gear/speed I am in through the turns. Besides, Heel/Toe or Ball/Side down-shifting makes my pants tighter.

This is my Citizen that I actually wear (got another that never leaves the case). They have some very nice aligator bands, with lamb skin on the wrist side. They also have cool little details like the engine turning on this one! I'm not a big link-belt wrist band guy either :/
