Programming an LS ECU
being stuck at home a bored . . . . .
I started thinking. Maybe a Corvette Forum member has the tools and software to program the ECU for an LS7. Specifically the bit that defines the Tachometer signal.
What I have is a 1969 convertible that I stuck an LS7 motor in. I also have a factory 69 tachometer that has been converted from a mechanical signal tach to a digital signal tach and looks stock.
Unfortunately the LS7 tach signal looks like a 4 cylinder car to my tack and thus my tach way under reads the signal. To get around this I have installed an after market tach under the hood and set it to 4 cylinder motor and it works fine.
I'm not looking for a full tune. Just to flip the tach bit to put out a V8 signal.
My alternative is to find the company that originally swapped my tach and ask if they can modify it again. I am looking for that info also.
Any local folks with this ability and willing to help?
I'm in Silver Lake area South of Everett and just North of Mill Creek.
Thanks!

My setup is a GM Connect and Cruise crate motor and tranny. It is not pulled from another car. It would take some time scheduling for me to go to Portland for this. If you are open, I’d love to run her down to you and have the ECU programmed for a V8 tach signal. It may be a while for me to go that far.
I’d love to PM you when I have a chance to run there and get this done.
Again, Thank You!

cott you can email me when you are ready or PM me. I don't check this site very often any more. Just because of work load, kids, wife etc.
Thank You tjwong for your offer to assist me.
Over the holidays while helping my brother on his 68 Firebird, one of his buddies asked me if I needed a wire kit he had purchased that converts the 4cylinder LS signal to look like a V8.
He offered it up for a good price so I just bought it.
I installed it over the weekend and it is literally plug and play with my tachometer! So now I have my original dash tachometer working on the LS7 engine!
FWIW: The original tach was converted from mechanical to electronic years ago. Still looks perfectly stock!
Again, thank for the offer to help!!
Scott
