Bought the car years ago and did a frame on resto ('75 coupe) and had the hood off for a few months. When I eventually put it back on I couldn't get the sides level with the tops of the fenders. I've tried everything I could; i.e., shims, rubber bumpers, latch adjustment and so on. The front was smacked when I bought it and I did repairs on the fiberglas before I had it painted. I also think the left fender was repaired at one point in time, but after bead blasting four paint jobs off I didn't see any glass work or bondo. There is about a quarter inch disparity in the vertical alignment and I would like to get it corrected. Any help would be appreciated.

Is the hood higher or lower than the fenders?
Has the hood had any previous repairs?
The hood on the drivers side is even at the front, low in the middle and even to high towards the windshield. Passenger side is about the opposite. I could take a pic or two if I could figure out how to post them.
Try a rubber bumper in the low area. i use one on each side in the back to match the contour (more or less). If I remember, the assembly manual lists them as "as required".
