I need to but an aftermarket hood for my C6. The question is two part. Do the normally come with the mounting points ready to accept the bolts? Second question is the car is MR which is a 3 part paint. Can a good body shop match it or does it need to be blended in?
Well, no one else has stepped up, so I'll at least get the discussion started. Easy question first - quality aftermarket pieces normally have captive "nuts" already in place, so that shouldn't be an issue.
As far as finish matching, ask any painter what is the toughest to match, and he'll tell you (not necessarily in this order) that reds, metallics, and tri-coats are the hardest. Congratulations, you've hit the trifecta!!
Nothing is impossible, but most shops will definitely want to blend. Those that don't will need lots of test panels (read: additional time) to try to get the match as perfect as possible. That would get my vote - the more original paint that stays original and untouched, the better, in my opinion. Good luck!
