I would go after the other company. Hagerty should have no interest unless the other company acts up.

I ain't worth the headaches, .... fighting with an Insurance company.
take what you can get, and then go fix your Vett the proper way.
No one can match up 30 year old cracked paint.
It sucks but you can't expect them to pay 100% for a new paint job either.
Personally I would get a quote for painting the whole car, they have already agreed to paint, the back half of the car, so they get half the bill, that's what I would aim for.
also if you find the right body shop, they will help you accomplish your goal.

A knowledgable body person needs to go over the damage in detail with the adjuster, and explain that the damaged part of the car will have to be stripped of all it's paint and repaired properly, in order for the car to retain it's value. Basicaly, the adjuster needs to be informed of all the steps necessary to do the repair. Adjusters are not body guys, and a lot of times they cant tell what it is going to take to properly repair a car, especialy a Corvette where if the repair is just patched in, it could show up again a few months later.
Depending on what the actual damage is you could request payment for a full rear clip replacement , as that will truly bring the car back to "before hit" status.(this does not mean that you will actualy replace the clip, but you need to bring it up anyway.) Remember, your car isnt a Honda Civic. Insurance companies arent just going to give you a ton of $$ for the asking, but if approached in an inteligent manner, collector car ins. companies will respond well.
After the maximum amount of $$$ for the repair has been negotiated, then you pitch in the extra $ to completely paint the rest of the car. 30 year old paint combined with new paint, will not look right.
Bottom line is you didnt cause this, and it has to be repaired properly!!! I would never settle for any less than a perfect invisible to the naked eye repair.Period. The guy should have found a cheaper car to run into.!!!
I hope this helps and Any questions feel free to contact me.

Also agree that you should get a qualified body shop to estimate the damage and the proper level of repirs required. Probably would be good if the shop is a State Farm approved shop, harder for State Farm to argue about the estimate. Then, get with State Farm to have them tell you what they will pay for and if that is not satisfactory, get Hagerty to press them to get it done. At that point, Hagerty would settle the claim with you and choose/or not to go after State Farm.
I have had State Farm on all my cars, boats, houses, business, etc. for years and have never had an unsatisfactory experience when it came time to make a claim.
Good luck with it, hope you get a good result.
But it will be difficult to make them agree to paint the rest of the car. Unfortunately that will most likely have to come out of your pocket.

I hope everything works out for you,
be patient a complete repair and paint is no easy task !
and 5k from you how much from the Ins. ? 3-4k ?
even that is a good price for a complete quality paint job.
