I have noticed on some of the British automotive shows, "Wheeler Dealer", etc., that they often use a 4.5" hand grinder with a thin cut off wheel when cutting auto body panels, etc. I have looked in the Sears tool catalog and on the net and can only find the thin kerf cut off wheels on British sites. It looks like a slick way to cut sheet metal. Where can the wheels be purchased on this side of the pond?

You mean these disks? This is my local tool store, but these should be available just about anywhere. I know many of our local tool stores cary them. BTW they do work well at cutting metal. They carry a couple of brands of these cut off wheels but the DeWalt ones are inexpensive and work well.
These are the best hands down, but might be harder to find as not sold through the home centers. Most welding supply places would carry these or can get them.
