I'm in the process of stripping my car down for paint, now its time to decide on what paint to use. I have read some about summit's acrylic urethane, does anyone have any experience with it or know more about it? I don't plan on entering shows or anything as its a driver but I do want it to look nice on a low budget.
Sorry, have not used it. BUT......Call summit and see if they will tell you who makes the paint that they are selling. They do not make it themselves...that is for sure. Purchased from a supplier and re-packaged....because if they do make paint themselves...I would be shocked.
The most important thing is to make sure that the paint will LAST. And going through all of the "pains" to strip one down...I would "bite the bullet" and at least try to use a quality name brand paint. It often times boils down to...you get what you paid for. BUT that does not mean that the most expensive paint out there is the best. But, like I mentioned...it would be a good idea for you on what you are buying.
I'd also contact Barry or Andy at Southern Polyurathanes and use their epoxy primer and high build primer at a great price. Chances are the stuff Summit carries isn't a 1st line paint but do as DUB suggested and call to see who makes the stuff.
You want it to look nice on a low budget? What about lasting for a number of years? Splurge for the good materials and you wont regret it. You get what you pay for.
