Default Repainting C6

Considering having the 05 C6 with 110,000 miles repainted. What should I ask for to assure a quality job? Its black.

Thank you

Thank you
Ask them to describe to you their procedure in repainting your car. Example: What parts get removed instead of being masked off (taillight housings and lense, mirrors, door handles, outer upper door window molding, emblems and if you own a coupe...the rear weatherstrip track that contacts the paint job at the back vertical edge of your door glass. Are the bumpers going to be removed so they can be properly prepped to make sure that paint does not peel off from the edges...because those edges/flanges can not be properly prepped when they are mounted on the car...especially the rear bumper cover.

Is the car going to be sanded and buffed/polished when completed?

How are they going to prep the surface for re-painting? You have to remember that paint WILL NOT stick to suraces that are not completely dulled out or properly scuffed for good paint adhesion. The grit of sandpaper or scuff pad used for paint prep is also important.

Prior to your car being shot...it would be wise that you actually go by BEFORE the paint job and inspect it to make sure that EVERY square inch of surface is dulled out. Even the bottom side of your front bumper cover, the bottom side of your ROCKER PANELS ( usually never prepped right...because "they" do not want to lay down and get them prepped right)... AND ALL EDGES OF EVERY PANEL!!!!. At least that way you know that the paint will adhere. I allow all of my customers to stop by if they are in "question" if I am doing it correctly. I have NO PROBLEM with that at all. When I am done prepping one for paint...the ENTIRE car is dulled out....absolutely NO SHINE! THIS is the MOST important part of your paint job....THE PREP!

Are they going to carefully and correctly mask off all areas so you do mot have a lot of overspray on parts that are not supposed to have overspray on them....thus....making your car look like a "BOZO" painted it because they did not take the time to properly mask it CORRECTLY! NOTHING is worse that popping your hood and seeing a lot of areas with overspray on them and thus lets everyone "with a good eye" know that it has been repainted....improperly.

And try to take notes so you can relay that information back on this post. Also include a close approximation of the cost to see if what they are charging you for.... is "in line" with the charge.
