Default Help please with a paint problem

Hello. I had my 1984 totally stripped and repainted with PPG Concepts single stage urethane paint about eight years ago. Everything looked great for years. Now, I notice blistering along the edge of the hood and in a few other spots along the beltline. The car was stripped using sandpaper not chemical strippers. My question is, what would cause the paint to blister after so many years? I would have thought that any errors in prep or application would have appeared well before now. The 2nd question is, is there anyway to fix this without stripping the entire car and starting over. A full paint job will cost far more then the car is worth. I could cry. Any opinions will be appreciated.

No paint job is forever. The failure you're seeing could have started with something as small as an unnoticed fingerprint on the sanded primer, or could stem from either filler or primer shrinkage which happens over time. Or something else entirely. A spot repair "band-aid" might net you a bit more time before you'll need the complete strip/respray again, but by now the color's likely shifted/faded enough so spotting it in will look like crap. If you paint it yourself it is pretty affordable... are you willing to learn a new thing?

Don't get upset about it, 8 years of good service from a single stage is great.
And there are a few paint options for people on a budget. You can find someone locally that does painting in their spare time or someone just starting out on their own looking to make a name for them self. Just check the local classifieds. (and check references.)
As long as the paint on the jambs is still good and you go back to the same color you can get a good quality bc/cc paint job for under $1500 or replace the 2k urethane for around $1300 Thats about what I would charge anyway.

And if that is still to much, this is a good opportunity for you to learn the trade. This forum has a lot of members that really know their way around a spray gun and would be willing to help you learn.. (me included)

Its probably just symptom of the SMC. Even the factory jobs did the same thing. If epoxy primer wasn't used it will lift sooner or later and if polyester primer or filler was used, it has just given up.
