Default How to remove paint.

My son's black Honda was parked outside his friend house and somebody was spraypainting a house. I try paint thinner to no avail. Paint has been sitting on the car for several months. What can I use and be safe with the clear coat? tia

Alcohol will dissolve latex paint.

Do a test area first just to make sure it doesn't harm the clear coat. It should be OK but it's always better to do a test.

My wife works for a shipyard and gets paint overspray on our vehicle all the time. I have tried many "miracle" removers. Clay bar works absolutely the best. You can do a whole vehicle in 3~4 hours with a little elbow grease. Find it in the WalMart Automotive section.

I bet they don't use latex around that shipyard. Clay bars would sure be the way to go there. For houses, latex is what is used. Alcohol will work and be faster.

If you are going to use alcohol to remove the overspray. Just make sure that the paint is cool to the touch and/or NOT in direct sunlight.

Thanks for the tip "roger55".
