I did a body off and replaced the rear clip on my 75. I am now trying to get the doors lined up again and they are reasonably close with the exception of the bottom rear corner. It is sitting way in ~1/4". The rear clip is bonded as tight as possible to the door jam. They are the original door off the car. I am wondering if maybe the front fenders shifted and something needs aligned up there better. If I can't adjust it, is the best way to build it just lay glass to build it up? If so what would you do at the edge? It seems like it would want to seperate. Thanks
Believe it or not, but the door can easily be bent to match. Grab the top and bottom and twist it. The fiberglass skin just flexes, and the steel frame bends holding a new shape.
Be sure to put weight in the doors to simulate the window, regulator etc. Otherwise the door won't fit right once you re-install everything.
Really? You're not just screwing with me. That sounds to easy.
The only thing missing from the doors is the window on the passenger side. everything else is in there. I will put it in just to make sure though. Thanks
My exact words when Mike (old body guy) told me how we would fix mine. Then he grabbed it and bent it right back into shape. Those things are amazingly flimsy! Hope I never get t-boned...
I tried this last night but couldn't get the door to move. I even place a piece of would between the bottom of the door and the sill and tried to close the door. It didn't really move much at all. Am I missing something? Is there another way to do this? Thanks
