Default Body primer

Someone advised I should use zinc chromate primer on fiberglass. Any thoughts on this subject?

Don't do it. Zinc Chromate is useful as an anti-corrosion coating on steel, but fiberglass does not rust. Choose either a quality epoxy, or urethane primer (or seal with epoxy, build with urethane) and have a better base for your paint.

epoxy needs nothing under it. the whole point of using epoxy is for adhesion and creating a barrier coat.

You got bad advise, stick with SPI epoxy for your first coat.
